I consider myself Christian. I sort of have my own belief structure. Treat others as I would like to be treated. Be polite. Say what you mean and mean what you say. It's mostly stuff like that.
I don't really like organized religion, especially the Catholic church. Although there are some instances where I have respect for certain individual because something that they say rings true for me.

Religion only bothers me when people use it as an excuse to hate me, thankfully people like that are few and far between

I'm my own religion, I'm Taoist in a way but I believe in elemental Gods, and that the Tao is woven by a Goddess, and I worship Her, kinda. It's hard to explain... I just sat outside one day listening to the world and this is what I came up with.

I'm technically a Presbatyrian, but my family has never made me go to Church or anything. Though, I was baptised.

At least when people use religion to hate you, it isn't politically correct. When people use their faiths to attack the Catholic Church it is seen as good and dandy when it is no better than attacking Jews, blacks, gays or anything along those lines.

I'd have to go with Other, since I don't really follow any sort of religon.

My parents are Christians that hold morals at a high extent, and I went to a Christian school for two and a half years. I've known people in all those choices and more, and asked them questions over why they beleive what was chosen, and it's usually off critical past events in their lives.

I follow the basic rules of some religons; don't steal, lie, cheat, don't don't don't.... because I've grown up with it, not because some all powerful god says it should be so. I think most religons exsist for those who need guidance in life; not anyone and everyone.

I'm a non-denominational, non-orthodox Christian, meaning I have some odd ideas.

For instance, I'm Calvinistic in a way that I believe in predestination (except even a bit more extreme - not only is our destiny decided for us, but also all our actions, all our believes, all the loves in our lives, etc.), and because of this, I have a deistic view that God is a clockmaker, and he stepped back to watch it all.

I have some doubts in the validity of some parts of the Bible (mainly some books in the Old Testament, which, if you think about it, don't matter anyway. Not saying that the Old Testament doesn't matter, or anything like that though), but I do believe that Jesus was crucified.

I do believe in Original Sin, and that it was a result of...yes, predestination. Eve was predestined to eat the apple, and Adam was predestined to take her advice and eat it too.

I'm also anti-denominational, because all denominations do is fuck up the general message, and I believe that everyone should decide what they would believe in, and not go along like sheep, listening to a preacher, a crazed nut on the internet, or the government.
And if you decide to do it, you're predestined to do it.

Obviously, I get in some fun debates in Theology class.

And that's basically what I believe.

predestination places all the blame for evil on God, since God decided what you were going to do, he is the author of all evil according to what you just said and therefore you just made God evil.... good job

RoboticParanoia...That is the weirdest amalgamation of deistic beliefs and Calvinism I've ever seen.

Better hope you're the 1 in the 40'000.

I'm an atheist, but my parents want me to be a Christ.
I have no religion, I can be Buddha, Catholic or whatever I want.
But I believe to be a Christ is good.

How come there's no "none" option? Bad poll!

Evangelical atheist here, godless and loving it since 2001. Call me nuts, but I don't see the point in believing in things that aren't commensurable by empirical observation.

there is a none option.... it's called "other"....

just in case you weren't.... paying enough attention to notice that option up there...

ziff: you can still believe in God.... eventhough your theology doesn't make sense.... but... it would technically ruin who God is to most Christians if what he believes was true

I can read, thanks for the patronizing. Other!=none. I don't have an "other" religion, I have no religion. More than a trivial distinction.

Er, no. It's technically possible for atheists to be "religious" in some sense but atheism is not itself a religion. It's just the absence of a belief in a personal deity. I myself really do have no religion.

You don't understand Calvinism, nor do you understand the ideas of St. Augustine...do you?

Because Robotic alluded to him not being able to believe in anything because everything he believes in is pre-destined by God. Thus he HIMSELF believes in nothing, because he has no concious ability to chose what to believe

okay.... just because someone is predestined doesn't mean they can't believe in something...

the idea of being predesitned just means that everything you do was decided on before you did it.... God basically made you do what you did.... you have no choice.... that doesn't remove the possibility of belief in God....

Look, if you had passed reading comprehension grade 4, we wouldn't be having this conversation right now...

If HE, ROBOTICPARANOIA, has had all of HIS ideas, beliefs, etc. predestined, then HE HIMSELF has never chosen anything. Therefore his OWN, INDIVIDUAL, PERSONAL belief is not that of his own, but that of a higher power, namely someone named God.

Yeah, Catholics believe in Jesus. Difference? Christians believe you can speak to God through Jesus Christ. Catholics believe you have to speak through a priest.

Protestants believe in that. Catholics and Orthodox believe in going through a priest.

All Christians believe that Jesus of Nazarene is the saviour of man. He suffered under Pontious Pilate, crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell, on the third day he rose again. etc. You should all know the Apostle's Creed.

Forgive my ignorance on the subject, but does the bible discuss anything about what Jesus did while he was in hell? Or at least shed any light on the subject?
