LMAO @ Hyper Mario! Some nice ideas in this thread. Someone should make a game (or hack, if they think they can do it ) using them. Also Ice Mario should be able to freeze water temporarily. It'd make for some awesome puzzles. Rocket Mario Icon: Rocket Effect: Luigi's missile move from SSBM. Bob-Omb Mario Icon: Bob-Omb Effect: Can explode like a Bob-Omb. (But like a Bob-Omb, it takes a few seconds. Otherwise you'd be practically invincible. ) Super Bob-Omb Mario Icon: Bigger Bob-Omb Effect: A huge explosion that kills everything on the screen. Can be used 3 times. (Same idea as Kirby's microphone.) Aqua Mario Icon: Fish Effect: Allows Mario to breathe under water, but not in air. Super Aqua Mario Icon: Gold Fish (not a goldfish, just the usual fish coloured gold ) Effect: Allows Mario to breathe under water as well as in air. MagMario Icon: Dunno Effect: Allows Mario to swim in lava, but has the same effect as being underwater. (This would have to be a game where you can't just hold your breath forever. Mario 64... *drool*) Light Mario Icon: Feather maybe? Effect: Lowered gravity (higher and slower jumps), sinks slower. Sonic Mario Icon: Gold Mushroom Effect: Higher max speed and accelleration. Heavy Mario Icon: 10-ton weight Effect: Can break blocks by jumping on them, and jump on spiky enemies. Jumps do more damage to enemies. Lower max speed, though, and he sinks faster. Badger Mario Icon: Badger Effect: Confuses enemies (causing them to act erratically) by turning into a badger and dancing while playing the Badger Badger Badger song. Missle-Launcher Mario Icon: Missiles Effect: Duh. Allows Mario to shoot missiles! (Which explode like Bob-Ombs, of course.) Super Missle-Launcher Mario Icon: Gold Missiles Effect: Same, but heat-seeking missiles. Muahaha. Lightning Mario Icon: Lightning Effect: Shoots lightning bolts which can shrink enemies (ala Mario Kart) and set stuff on fire. (Also could be used with a battery or some such in a puzzle. ) Inu-Mario Icon: Effect: Mario gains a sword which can be used to cut stuff. (Who'd have guessed? ) If charged up (hold the button), it releases a shockwave whose size is proportional to the length it's charged. He also gains the ability to jump higher and run faster, and cute ears and white hair. Baby Mario Icon: Pacifier Effect: Turns into Baby Mario, of course! Able to run up walls and over spikes, small, and can kill enemies with sonic blasts of "WAAAAH!". Fat Mario Icon: Chocolate cake Effect: Mario gets fat and rolls around (potentially very fast if you roll down a hill), crushing most enemies, but can't jump or swim. However, he bounces a bit when he lands. Funny Mario Icon: Laughing face Effect: Mario makes faces and tells jokes/funny sounds, paralyzing nearby enemies for a few seconds (who will be too busy cracking up to move). 3 uses max. And then you could have temporary versions of all these too. That's a lot of powerups! Making up powerups is fun! Also for Dry Mario, just make the lava not ignore temporary invincibility. Or even normal (such as from a star), so you could jump in and find secrets. Another cool idea is if Mario could ride Yoshi, who would be able to turn into all the stuff from YI and still carry Mario with him. |

Hax0r Mario Icon: The letters "H," "A," and "X." Mario's graphics are screwed up a bit. When the run button is pressed, all projectiles are shot out. down+run button turns Mario into a statue except he can walk. Running in to stuff kills them. |

Ooh just had some good ideas. Fuzzy Mario Icon: Fuzzy Mario puffs up and floats through the air. Any enemy touched by Fuzzy Mario begins moves very erratically for half of one minute. Bandit Mario Icon: Bandit mask Press B just before you'd otherwise get hit by an enemy to steal several coins from them and run to the left. Shell Mario Icon: Koopa Shell No real effect, but when you get hit by an enemy, instead of turning in to regular Mario, you turn in to Super Mario. |

Platform Mario Icon: Small Platform Effect: If you hit the B button on a line guide at the right time, Mario turns brown and can walk on the line (can't jump, though). Hit B to release Mario from the line (jumps off it). GravFlux Mario Icon: Two planets Effect: Press B to rotate the gravitational source by 90 degrees. Warning: Avoid falling enemies! Electric Mario Icon: lightning bolt Mario can electrocute nearby enemies; same concept as Kirby's Spark power. If you use this in a water level, it will kill everything in the level, including Mario. Airplane Mario Icon: airplane This transforms Mario into an airplane. In this form, he moves very fast through the air, but if he hits any object on a side from which he normally wouldn't be able to enter, he explodes and dies. Foreground/Background Mario Background Mario Powerup Icon: arrow pointing away from the player Foreground Mario Powerup Icon: arrow pointing towards the player These move Mario back and forth between the foreground layer and background layer of the current level. Mario can only interact with objects that are on the same layer as he is. His abilities are limited to what the enemy can do, though. Ex. Goomba can't jump. Sniper Mario: Mario+Sniper rifle+High ledge= nuff said. Magnetic Cap Coins will be magnetically attracted to mario. However, various other items/enemies will be magnetically attracted to him as well, and will attach to his body. Yes, bob-ombs still explode if they're magnetically stuck to him. However reversing his polarity will send whatever's stuck to him flying out in all directions, the debris killing anything they touch. |

Split Mario/Join Mario Split Mario Powerup Icon: a picture of Mario with a vertical line through him Join Mario Powerup Icon: a picture of two Marios with arrows pointing at each other The "Split Mario" item will split Mario into two separate Marios; one will be on the foreground layer, and one will be on the background layer. They will both respond to the controls as if they were the same Mario. The "Join Mario" item will join both Marios into one Mario which will end up on whichever layer the "Join Mario" item was collected on. Mutated Mario Icon: green squirming blob This will cause Mario to turn green and grow eight giant insectoid legs from under his hat. He can use these legs to cling to ceilings; they also give him the ability to destroy enemies by hitting them directly from below. Disco Mario Icon: Roto Disc Effect: Mario gets an big hair and the music changes to disco music. Also, Roto Discs don't affect him. Metroid Mario Icon: Metroid Effect: Mario turns green and floats. Any enemy he touched slowly dies and gives Mario more time and coins. Morning Breath Mario Icon: Mouth w/ breath Effect: Standing still long enough causes green clouds to eminate from Mario's mouth and suffocate all enemies they touch. Javelin Mario Icon: Javelin Effect: Mario fires javelins that stick into walls. Can be stepped on, but fall like donut lifts. Unlucky Mario Iocn: Broken Mirror Effect: Things tend to go bad for Mario (i.e. projectiles curve, Thwomps fall early, Mario's jumps go bad when in danger). Ugly Mario Icon: "UGLY" Effect: Enemies will run away from Mario. If you stand next to an enemy for long enough, they selfdestruct. |

Metal Mario Icon: Silver Star Like invincibility, except mario can walk across lava. He turns silver and sparks fly as he punches enemies away. The metal mario theme song plays while the power lasts (which would be for a few seconds). Plus Size Mario Icon: Mushroom with a plus This only works when Mario has a mushroom. He grows much larger (about 32x48) and can stomp the ground to cause earthquakes; kill koopalings in one hit. He will change to his normal form after being hurt. Paper Mario Icon: Paper with a scribble Mario is flattened and posesses the power to crumble into a ball, fly, slip through tight spots, much like Paper Mario. He automatically dies in fire or water though. |

Flare Mario Icon: a row of sticks with a small "3" embedded in the right edge. Effect: This allows Mario to cast a huge fire wave, coming up from below, three times. This eats up anything living within the range of one screen wide in a height of 10 rows and slowly decreases when sinking. Enemies immune to fire or using that element are not affected. Mario instantly dies too, if he's in the attack range while cast. Clone Mario Icon: "x2" Effect: Allows him to use a dark clone which works for him. It is only half as strong as normal Mario, but invincible unlike Mario hinself. One shot only and rests about 100 timer seconds. GP Toss Mario Icon: Gold coin Effect: Allows Mario to bribe enemies. He can give coins to them, while they take them and run away. The harder the enemy, the higher the cost. A boss cannot be bribed, obviously, since he/she already has more than that. Leviathan Mario Icon: Water Goddes Statuette Effect: Simple as that; summons Leviathan which calls for water what fills any level with water. Exceptions are levels with lava on the bottom. That stays for the rest of the level until Mario dies or finishes it. Block Wizard Mario Icon: pointing towards a brown used block. Effect: Like Solomon, this allows Mario to create blocks within air. The block is a brown used one, so it is pretty useless if the power of a P-switch is activated. Two buttons are used for creation and disapperance of blocks, which can be up to five blocks at a time. Magnet Mario Icon: A red magnet pointing to a iron block. Effect: This allows Mario to use magnetism to pull to any obstacle made of metal. The range is 20 blocks from all sides. While holding the button, he remains stuck until he releases it. Can also draw coins and p-switches to Mario himself like the lightning extra in Sonic 3 or Sonic & Knuckles. Drain Mario Icon: Plunger. Small water basins, if not larger than 50 x 20 blocks, can be drained from water fully, making Fish and other water enemies powerless. The downside is the waiting time. After Mario used that, he needs 50 timer seconds to be able to drain another basin in the same level. Mindcontrol Mario Icon: Two parantheses capturing two evil eyes. Effect: Allows Mario to convince an enemy to work for him until the target dies or Mario finishes the level. Since most of his enemies are pretty weak, he can summon as many new helpers as possible, but only one at a time. Spider Mario Icon: Spider's web Effect: Put nets hanging from blocks or on the floor. Enemies caught will need a while to rescure themselves, thus losing their defence power. So stomping on spiked enemies will be no major problem in that state. Aura Mario Icon: Mario's outline plus a gradient "shield" circle around him Effect: Mario gains bonuses of speed + 50 %, jump + 20 % and grip on ice. Also, he will be able to see hidden POW coins and doors within a range of +3 blocks around him (hence the Lense of Truth from Zelda OoT). The only thing are undead enemies. Stomping on them will make Mario die, since the aura is something like "holy" elemental and he rather has to attack them with shells and such. Wall Mario Icon: Two thick sticks Effect: Allows Mario to lock up enemies in a screen by creating large wooden block walls at three sides at the screen; if the bottom has a hole it will not be covered. Some enemies trying to escape will sometimes sacrifice theirselves by jumping in, since there is no escape. Only works if Mario is standing still and standing on solid ground. Duration is 30 sec fixede. So it might be good not to activate that if the goal is not within the screen and you have less than 31 seconds left. Vampire Mario Icon: Teeth Effect: Allows Mario to suck up enemy's blood. This does not kill them, but makes them slower. Each eemy fills up a magic meter, if it is full (needs 20 Goomba's blood or some bigger enemies), he will go berserk if button pressed and automatically run straight into the direction he faces, while invincible for 20 seconds. A side effect is, that for each quarter he fills up his meter, he gains bonuses in attack + 10 %; thus added up to 40 % stronger attack when the meter is full. |

Wait how is being stronger useful when everything dies to one hit except maybe minibosses which take 3 so a +40% attack bonus would still mean it takes 3 hits. | |||

The thing is, that my head is full of ideas and often I to tend to elaborate much farther than usually possible In my universe, I had given most enemies something like moret HPs/a life bar (basically they have hitpoints, a Goomba has one, a koopa 2, Mario has 2 when big, loses one when small etc.), so these percentage values would make perfect sense then. I'd like to see a Mario jump and run with some RPG elements - the opposite already was done with Mario RPG and Paper Mario |

Teleporter mario Icon: Magic lines Press the run button twice in quick succession to teleport 3 spaces ahead. Any enemy between where you start and where you end up takes damage. |

Psychedelic Mario Icon: dried shroom (like in Paper Mario) When Mario comes in contact with enemies, random things happen. Mario may fly, or be transported to a dream world. Effects are temporary and Mario dies when its over if he has 0 health (a health bar comes with the power). |
