Well it seems that Zophar FINALLY got around to finding out about ZSNES 1.40 RC1, here's the interesting thing though, that's actually an older release (by a day) than the current ZSNES WIP 12/5 that is also in the downloads. Apparently RC1 has netplay temporarily disabled if I read Atma right...but Proto K and I were playing with the latest CVS WIP build which is now an EXE extractor (got me) and has SDD-1 support (think Star Ocean and Street Fighter Alpha/Zero 2...only without the extrenal graphics pack). Worked pretty damn decent for me and Proto K when we were co-oping on FF5 tonight...the CVS that is...so it seems 1.40 is now becoming a reality after months of delay. |

Sounds like I'm going to have to take a bit of time out to update my emulators Last time I checked for updates was about a month ago Do you, or anyone else know what's so great about ZSNES X-treme? I looked on ipher's WIP site for a download link, and it just says it's too extreme for you I don't think I'm missing out on anything, but I'd like to know for sure |

IT'S THE X-TREME BUILD LOL! I think it was made on April Fools or something...there's really not much of a diff except something about the color I think. |

So, GFX packs are no longer needed for ZSNES for this build right? So, that means all one needs is to just have the ROM to play?

Bah, it's still good to keep those good ol' versions around. (1.337, for some older Super Metroid speed run viewings, etc) But I'm not too up to date with emulators these days, so thanks for the heads up. *Xeogred goes to download. |

Has anyone bothered to address the sluggish response time of the SPC engine? It kind of breaks the one battle song in Earthbound and the stairstep noise in Zelda aLttP. Even SNES9x is faster than that.

That's odd; I've never noticed anything wrong with it. Everything seems well-timed for me, so... |

It *could* be your PC but I've had no timing issues with any game I've played on ZSNES. Perhaps it's a rare bug only found on certain PC's but if that's the case, see if it works fine on an earlier version first. |

Seems to be the case no matter what version of ZSNES I am using. The overall pacing is correct, but it leaves notes hanging for a split second too long. The Stair noise in LttP for instance becomes sort of a scratchy "chrrk-chrrk-chrrk-chrrk-chrrk" instead of a nice metallic "tic-tic-tic-tic-tic". A split second is all the difference it takes. Snes9x, Sneese, Super Jukebox, and SNESAmp are faster and can do the stairs correctly as a result, and I have all the same features checked in each one. I would say it's a problem with ZSNES's APU rather than comp speed, because other than that it runs faster and smoother than any other SNES emulator around. The hackjob OpenSPC also has this problem. |

Well that's not to forget how horrible playback is sometimes for the sound in online and ZMV usage. Take Tetris Attack and it's variants for example...man oh man that thing sounds like utter crap on playback and online...I can barely stand it. EDIT: Street Fighter Alpha 2 runs SO MUCH BETTER now.
