| Speaking of Monopoly...I was reading in this magazine just today that had a small section on Monopoly strategies, and one of them was "Stay in jail." When you're in jail, you still get rent from other people landing on your property, but YOU can't land on THEIR property. | |||

| When you get out of jail, you're a long way from Go... And how I've always played Monopoly, any money you pay from drawing cards or those "Income Tax" things goes in the center, and whoever lands on Free Parking gets that money. Does anyone else play that way? |

That's a fairly popular variant, but by no means official. Also, yeah it's a long way from go. But I'll be that much closer to it than the other people should they fall in jail and decide not to buy their way out early... Of course, I'd definitely stay in jail of a particular person was dominating the field (and they weren't me  ) and the risk was too much, but point stands. |

| Another strategy was that the mid-priced properties (like the oranges and reds) are better than Boardwalk and Park Place because houses and hotels are cheaper, and there are three properties for people to land on rather than two. Then again, my dad's strategy is to get the two lowest-priced properties and build up to hotels right away...good thing they're right past Go... |

| Having lower priced hotels will not allow you to consistently get as much money. It's better to buy like one property on those to prevent someone else from getting one. Then go for the bigger monopolies, which you might have to trade for. It seems like the most consistently landed on properties are 1. The oranges 2. The light purples 3. Yellows 4. The reds. I usually go for those. | |||
