Which of these abilities would you like most?
All are ways of manipulating time. You can choose what objects to apply them to (ex: stop everything except you and someone else, rewind and take a toaster back with you, etc) and will retain all memories.

I'd probably like #5 best, because you could get away with so much. 3 would also be nice for re-doing stuff you messed up (like using a save state, but you don't have to actually save).

Tough call. I'd say rewind is the most diversely useful one, and one I wish I had frequently... though #5 would be good too...

I'd say #5. You could pause to sleep and such, and therefore be awake and ready all the "real" time... in addition to being able to take it slow and get everything done in any time frame. The only problem is that if you missed something completely, pausing doesn't get it back. Obviously.

#5. Being able to take something, like a computer, with me into the no-time-ness would be great too. (Programming for sereval weeks without wasting a second )

I pick #3. You can essentially stop time with it by constantly rewinding and playing a specific nanosecond or such, and you can go backwards too. Since you can choose what to apply it to, you can do what smallhacker said about programming for weeks without wasting a second. Plus it has advantages such as if a particular thing breaks you can rewind to when it wasn't broken and prevent it from happening.

If it were anything, Id go with #5...

Besides, I rarely do anything I regret anyways, so rewinding would be useless to me.

Besides, with #5, I could be the ultimate procrastinator

Rewind! My own personal Ctrl-Z!

Also, it would be cool to see how my life would have ended up if I did things differently...

Rewind, althought that ability would be kinda scary. What if you did very good but then did rewind and somehow couldn't do it again?

The far back in time you rewind, then more diffrent the future will be. And you could warn people about things. :O

Choice #3 for me, I'd LOVE real-life Save States (I've wondered what it would be like having them for a while now)

I haven't voted yet, but with option 5, would you age? If you could stop time forever (and bring stuff/people with you) that would be amazing. Bring a few friends with you and destroy stuff.

There should have been an option to stop time completely just for you (and what ever you're touching) then time would go on as normal for everyone else. Thats what I would have picked.

But Im going to chose #5.

Rewind powers = Teh Good.

Aside from what Kratos said about it: Since you control what rewinds, you can basicly chooses yourself as a target to make you younger whenever you're getting old (but you don't make the world rewind, so you're immortal while time goes on).

Perhaps, but... If you were to do that, wouldn't you forget everything that happened in that time? Or wait, he did say you kept memory, but... If it was YOU that was rewinding, then... Actually nevermind, I think you'd be right.

In some kind of way, what I said could be bad. The effects could be unknown, if you tried go back to a time were you didn't have that power, then you would probably be trapped in time.

Also it could be cool for neat supervillian effects. For instance, play the same few seconds over and over again for everything except a tree that's in your way, so that it instantly rots and falls apart, then tell people around you you'll do the same to them if they don't do stuff for you. Of course, it wouldn't actually work on a creature since they can do all sorts of things as time is essentially stopped for everything else, but... I dunno it would work if you encased them in something first so they can't just run up and kill you right there.

Your evilness is surprising. But what I'd enjoy the most would be to kill someone -> rewind - > kill -> rewind.... and so on.
Hours of fun.

Rewind. Mainly by what Davis said.

...nice idea DarkSlaya. Cause a murder one way and do the murder in a different way but to the same person. That would be nice...

Plus rewinding like Davis said would be better than stopping. You did something while rewinding such as delete your rom hack or something and you could rewind time (just you, not your computer) and presto! Your rom hack is saved.

I was thinking that with rewind you'd go back to the exact same state, but keep your memory... still extremely useful, but you wouldn't really be able to make progress on anything, unless it was something you were working out in your head. So you couldn't make a ghetto stop-time like that. =p EDIT: I didn't notice the description text for the poll before. I think my rewind makes more sense as a way of keeping the powers balanced. =o

I would also like to note that slow and view would also be extremely handy... though the view one is vaguely defined. Fast-forward would be nice occasionally, but wouldn't be nearly as useful as the others. It's more of an "avoid boredom" tool.

EDIT 2. Allow me to explain myself: before I read the little text at the top of the poll, I was not aware that rewinding was so flexible. I feel that my version of the "powers" is better, because it does not allow one power to completely encompass another, as is the case with the rewind/stopping trick. In the way the powers are described here, however, with all the stipulations given, rewinding is indeed better because it would allow stopping as well. Hyargh.

I don't see why the fake stop-time wouldn't work, though. If it's the same thing being done over and over again and you're not affected, and the timeframe is small enough, time is essentially stopped. You can choose what to apply it to, so you could well stop time as you flip switches unnoticed, or something to that effect.

Also, why would you need to stop time if you could rewind while keeping your memory?

The usefulness I would see in stopping time would be to have more time to think in a situation which requires fast thinking, but it would be better IMO to go ahead with one decision, and if it was a mistake, rewind and try something different.

Stop time.
Having all of them would be so much better though.
