It's a fine map, although it suffers in that Link shows up on the screens with the bosses (which would be easy to fix, really, I don't know why it's like that), and the bosses are like, halfway through a movement sequence rather than sitting static like when you enter the room. Also, there appears to be an odd colour issue in the room with Rolling Bones. And it would work better if it was a proper Rupee sprite from that chest, and is that the original font? It would be better if it was. Eric Idle, of course. EDIT: Heck, you could go the whole hog and just make the entire map one picture rather than a series of interlinked pictures. Well damn, I said it was a fine map, didn't I? I was just pointing out the ways it could be improved if he wanted to. That's all. God, it's not like I said THAT'S AWFUL HOW CAN ANYONE USE SUCH A HORRIBLY DESIGNED MAP. And to be frank, any bugger with free time can make a map like that, it's getting it perfect that makes the difference. And since he spent so much time making little icons for the items in the chests and such, then... Anyway, talking of maps... If anyone can name what game they're from, have a cookie. The official Nintendo strategy guide had better quality maps than that. Die (PS: SMB3) Edit: Pic 5 is broken. (edited by Kyouji Craw on 04-13-05 06:26 AM) (edited by Kyouji Craw on 04-13-05 06:26 AM) (edited by Kyouji Craw on 04-13-05 06:27 AM) (edited by Kyouji Craw on 04-13-05 06:27 AM) |

Mmmm, BS Super Mario Bros 3. I never tried it myself personally, but I do have read about it. I should download that ROM later today, hopefully it's playable. |

I'm going to guess the remake of SMB3 on the GBA, because it certainly has the graphics of SMAS, but... the maps aren't the same. The pictures are Worlds 4-6, but... *Scratches head* I'm stumped. Edit: Oh... I should have known. Man, Nintendo sure hid a lot of good things from us with the BS thing. (edited by Waddler-D on 04-13-05 06:47 AM) |

And well, I noticed anyother obvious proof. Check the filename of thoose maps. BS stands for Bandai Satellaview. Ironcally some people called the DS for that, when they heard that the DS was going to use two screens. Little did thoose trolls know that there was a BS already. xD |

All games downloaded through the The BS-X Satellaview (BS is for Broadcast Satellite, X is for Nameless) had BS at the end of their names. The Satellaview was a modem add-on for Nintendo's Super Famicom system in Japan. The system would connect to the St. Giga satellite radio station, and during a limited time (between 4:00 and 7:00 PM), one could download video games and receive news about the gaming world, and save it on a memory cart that plugged into the Satellaview. Edit: Kitten Yiffer, what the fuck? No, no connection with Bandai. BS doesn't mean 'Bullshit', you twonk. You think the Japanese know what 'BS' means? Hell, I didn't for years, it's an American thing. BS basically means the BS-X Satelliview add-on for the Snes, where many games were broadcast for a brief time (such as the infamous BS Zelda, F-Zero 2 and Radical Dreamers). BS Super Mario Collection 3 is very much like BS Super Mario USA, in that the levels mostly identical to the original game, but it's all about getting a good score, with a few new features. As you can see, there's a Fire Flower 'stage' in the map. This is a special bonus which basically means you will start every level as Fire Mario if you don't already have a power higher than Super Mario (such as Raccoon Mario). I think there is something that makes this payoff detrimental, but I haven't figured it out yet. Now, there's no music in the game, as this was one of the BS games that originally had speech and possibly different music in the background, and this cannot be emulated (yet). The rest of the game is played like normal, with the levels being mainly identical to the original game, but you can play any stage you want in any order, and you're playing for points. Once you get 500000 points, the Treasure Ship can be reached, and when your time runs out, you face the boss. The first boss is Boom Boom in the first Big Island Mini-Fortress. Beat him and get a Magic Wand, and move onto the next world. If you got less than a million points, you do the rest of Big Island and fight Iggy next. If you get over a million, you move onto Sky Land and will be fighting Roy. If you fight Iggy your final stage will be in one of the Sky Land maps, depending on your score. And, if you beat Roy with over 1000000 (although it might be 1500000 because you are given five more minutes this time), you move onto Iced Land, and the *real* final Fortress (nobody screaming for help from this one). This is Bowser's Castle (although you'll fight through there whatever you do). At the end your score is added up over the three sets of stages you went through, and a few other things you do on the way add up to your score. Not sure what they are because it's in Japanese. |

I downloaded few BS games from a certain french site. The weird thing was that BS Super Mario USA 3 looks like Super Mario Bros 2. |

And Fyxe kinda said that earlier... Super Mario USA was in the Japanse SMAS too I think. And to be honest, I actually prefer the "japanse" SMB2, even if the american have a few neat things... oh well. Althought, it's Doki Doki panic with added animations and replaced the Doki Doki Panic hack with the Mario crew. |

Actually, people forget they added the Y button run and the shrinking in size when hit to Super Mario Bros. 2, and they also added Clawgrip instead of a third Mouser. BS Super Mario USA comes in four (or is it five?) editions, each of them covers a different world. BS Super Mario USA is very weird. You only play as Mario, throughout the game originally it appears that characters ranging from Peach to Mouser would have different conversations in the background (probably to add to the plot or to help you find stuff), a points system was added, special gold Mario statues were added to the levels and it's bloody hard to find all of them, and every time you go down a pot in Subspace, you fight Wart. There's also a point screen showing the numbers of Cherries, Mushrooms, Coins you've collected, which of the statues you've got, and which of the bosses you've beaten. Oh, and you can replay old levels after beating them to find the remaining statues and get more points before the game time ran out. |
