I'm so gonna beat Omega and Shinryu easily. I can take care of Omega's attack (got Phantom Train to do a miserable 7 damage on each characters). As for Omega's high defense, that's not a problem (BW and Ninja - > Temper on Knight, Knight uses Giant's Glove.) And I'm LV62, by the way. I wonder what my level will be when I'l face them (I Still have to do the Lifespring Grotto all over again). |

"In that battle, I also discovered that casting Healaga is much more effective than using the Rune Staff. " Well, duh. The Rune Staff is only Healara. I think, anyway... Beat FF1 on DoS today, skipping Shinryu and Omega. Knight lv 58 Ultima Weapon Aegis Shield RIbbon Dragon Mail Genji Glove Red Wizard lv 58 (or, my other attacker. And the Party Buffer.) Lightbringer Elven Cloak Ribbon Diamond Armlet Protect Ring White Wizard lv 58 (or, my other other attacker) Masamune (hey, Lightbringer had too many stat boosts to take off.) Protect Cloak Ribbon (duh) Ruby Armlet Protect Ring Black Wizard lv 58 (Temper, please. And again. Don't forget the haste.) Cat Claws (Judgement Staff in inventory so White WIzard had attack for a while) Protect Cloak Ribbon Ruby Armlet Protect Ring The only boss to give me any trouble was Death Gaze. Killed my knight, so I had to healaga my party back to full waiting for an opening for Full-Life... while I did that, Black and Red started boosting Red's attack. After a while, Red fell. Annoyed, I repeated the same process to revive him. Then Black fell. That's when I said "ah, fuck it. I'm taking him out anyway." and unloaded on his sorry ass. Two people doing ~1500-2000 each was good enough. Until I beat him, I was stuck using a Deathrbinger on Red, and Kikuichimonji on my Knight, since I forgot to go get Excalibur before going into Whisperwind. Yeah, stupid me. In the end, my Red Mage had pretty good stats without Lightbringer. And with it, all his base stats were better than my Knight's except Strength and HP. Towards the end, he finally crawled above White in HP, too, which I was grateful for. ... it's too bad Chaos was such a wuss. |

I, too beat Chaos today.... but that wasn't intended. I went to get the Masamune...and said to myself: "Hey, let's go see how much he changed!". I ended up fighting him and killing him (Who knew that he'd fall when I was hitting him ONLY with my Knight having the Ultima Weapon equiped (and had only half his HP most of the time). Now I must go and beat up Omega and Shinryu.... With my LV70 party. |

Well, if you are lvl 55+, all enemies in the game are ridiculously easy. You should start a new game and try to fill up the bestiary around lvl 45 And remember kiddies, class change ASAP! EDIT: Originally posted by Lenophis After getting away with about 7 or 8 Tempers, I went to the 3-healer, one attacker mode until the attacker needed a little more Temper.... Went over really well... Healaga once and Healara twice (via staff). Easy. (edited by Kefka on 01-08-05 01:57 PM) |

I'm not too sure how you use the "Effect" equipment, or whatever they're called. Weapons that will cast effects / magic when you use them. You just equip them, and when you use them they'll take effect? Or do you somehow use the weapon / equipment like an item? I haven't been playing FFI that much anymore. Since I never really gave FFII a chance on the PSX, I'm starting to play that more now. So far I'm liking it, it's system sort of reminds me of FFIX, excluding how you level up your stats. The music's pretty good too. But in FFI I'm basically at the end, ready to go to Chaos's Castle. I still haven't completed all of the new dungeons, but I'm about to beat the Fire one. (whatever it's called) I've heard again and again that Chaos is pathetically easy, but I'm assuming this version is far different compared to the very original, from what I hear from that Chaos is a pain the ass. Could be wrong though. |

You'll only be able to use it once per turn (or else that'd be too much, just think of what you could do with the Giant's Glove). Edit: And I just beat the crap out of Shinryu. The battle went well, except that my Ninja got killed... and I didn't feel like using Full-Life (WW was already busy healing my Knight so the damage is higher). Actually, you can use equipped items as items. Press Up when you're at the top of the item list in-battle. I had my Red Wizard do that numerous times with Lightbringer in random battles. (edited by Cheveyo Chowilawu on 01-08-05 03:46 PM) |

What's a good way to level your characters stats up in FFII? I know there's "ways" to abusing the system, or do they really expect you to attack your own characters, etc? Regardless, this is a game where I'm actually having fun fighting and leveling up. FFI just gets a little tedious afterawhile. |

Originally posted by Xeogred Ahhh, someone speaking my language. I actually didn't build up my stats too much, I just built up my Shield level to 12 (dual-wielding shields and having a field day attacking does that) then massacred the Captains in Fyn. (Casting level 3-4 magic, and Minwu casting Blink single target on the lone person in front, guaranteed victory.) After some slaughter, I wanted to get enough money to fully equip my characters, and everything is much more expensive. (Sell off the extra Gold Plates, Flame Bows, Curse Scrolls, and Toad Scrolls for quick cash.) Get about 150,000, then head on down to Mysidia. Getting Holy isn't really needed, although Swap is if you want quick HP and MP. On a last note, don't unequip the characters that leave during the game... (Specifically, Minwu, Josef, and Ricard.) |

FF2 problem. Firion's skill levels would not increase when he was wielding a sword. He had level 3 sword and shield, level 1 Cure. When I equipped a second shield to see if the shield was the problem, his shield level rose. When I unequipped both shields and tried unarmed, that increased. But with a sword and shield, his sword level would not increase at all. WTF?! |

It might just take awhile to level up after it gets stronger. I've noticed for me at least, the bars tend to not move in the Status Menu sometimes. I'll check over my equipment and stats will be at the starting point, but then after 1 battle or so something might level up. That's at least what I've noticed ... could be the same thing maybe? Also, is level 4 the highest for equipment? Well as of now I'm at the boss in the Ice Cavern, I've definitely underestimated FFII. The battles may not be as quickly paced as FFI's (for me at least, remember I have a Knight, Ninja, Master, and Red Wizard ...) but in this game I actually have fun leveling up my characters stats and so. |

You're figting too weak enemies. Go fight some better ones. You don't need higher than 3 at that point anyway. As for stats, you don't need to cheat or abuse the system. Simply keep your evade high, and you'll do just fine. Evade is the most important stat in this game. |

Well, here's the thing. Sword and Shield were both level three, ok. Attackign with a sword and a shield didn't raise either level at all, but going into a battle with no sword and just two shields raised shield. Against the same enemies. That's why I'm thinking it's some sort of bug. And I'm sticking with weak enemies at this time because Maria only has... uh... 30-something HP. |

Originally posted by Cheveyo Chowilawu If you have 2 of a weapon, you'll gain double the amount of experience for it. Thus, you'll be able to raise it higher. Originally posted by Cheveyo Chowilawu Well, if she is hit, she'll gain HP. Simple as that. You gain HP as you need it, that's what makes the system so great. Well, at least the original, the GBA remake give you stats seemingly at random, and overlevels you no matter what. |

I know how the system works. I've played the game before. But no one ever attacks Maria, and if I have someone attack her the person will most likely kill her in one hit. This, simply put, sucks. |

Where exactly are you in the game? I'm not too far, about 4 hours into the game and here's my HP for the characters: Firion - 278 Maria - 161 Guy - 445 Josef - 307 Maybe it's just me, but even if my characters don't get attacked eventually their HP will go up a bit. I don't know what to say, have her attack herself with a regular Bow or something. (edited by Xeogred on 01-10-05 06:55 PM) |

Self-attacking always seems to miss. I just got to Salamand, and I'm building my HP up to ~100 for each character before tackling Semitt Falls. | |||

Originally posted by Cheveyo Chowilawu Well now that I think about it, I'd say Maria herself tends to always miss. I read on GameFAQ's (or somewhere) that attacking yourself about two times per battle levels up your HP, please. (edited by Xeogred on 01-10-05 07:02 PM) |
