The trenchcoated man snapped up, his eyes narrowing beneath his glasses. He picked up his fedora, placing it snugly on his head, then snapped open his briefcase, drawing out a single thing sheet of paper. He stood, and moved for the door.

Man: You two stay here...

He then slid open the cabin door, and found himself standing face to face with... Well, hell, you've all read the books. He was face to face with a dementor, who cocked it's head (assuming dementors even have heads) beneath it's cloak towards the man, who seemed unfazed. The man simply lifted the sheet of paper to the dementor's head.

Man: Saewataru!

Four black kanji symbols appeared on the piece of paper, and he lunged forward, slamming the piece of paper directly against the dementor's "forehead". The cabins closest to him experienced a sudden burst of coldness -- and if anyone had looked out into the hallway, they would have seen a dementor... frozen in a giant ice cube. Moving to one side, the man simply gave the giant ice cube a kick, and it sped off down the hall, crashing through the door, and flying off the train.

Afterwards, the man simply stepped back into the cabin with the unknown girl and Luke, then sat down in his spot, took his hat off... and slumped against the window, going to sleep as quickly as he had woken up.

Janus: "Erm... Alright, then..."

Having seen the trenchcoated man cast that rather powerful spell, Janus put down Satchel as discreetly as he had grabbed him and decided against actually using it.

Satchel: "Do that again and I stop talking."

"Right, right, magic only here."

Kirby, letting out a puff of frozen breath, looked at everyone in the cabin. He was completely oblivious as to what happened, thanks to having a bird and a teddybear on his head

Kirby: Uh.. what just happened?

---------------------

"That was.. Japanese..?"

The reddish brown haired girl felt a slight bit of amazement, despite not seeing what the fedora sporting man did. She was now holding Ka'nae, who had fallen into a frozen dormant state. The trouble should have been over, but the train was still not moving.

Curiosity had gotten the best of the girl as she got up. She popped her head out of the cabin and looked around. There was nothing down in the direction the dementor-cicle went in. It was another case when she turned her head to the other direction. Several cloaked figures swept through the halls. The walls around the figures began to build up with frost. The way they motioned their cloaked heads made it seem like they were hunting for something, or perhaps even someone.

The girl didn't hide back in the cabin. Something compelled her to stay there. It didn't make sense why she even stood there. The constant cracking of their boney hands would've been enough to scare off someone. But she stayed.

Janus: "Hey, bag-boy! You're the magical one here, mind telling me what that was?"

Satchel stirred subconsciously, and responded with his usual bit of sarcasm.

Satchel: "Well, at least you're calling me a guy now. Those were Dementors. You know, eaters of happiness and fun? You got some good memories in you? Well, they're gonna suck 'em right up. Nothing you can do about it, either. The main point is to leave you wallowing in sadness and despair."

Janus: "But there are more emotions than happiness... What about love?"

Satchel: "It's like candy to them."

Janus: "Friendship?"

Satchel: "Chows 'em down."

Janus: "Apathy?"

Satchel: "A little heavy on the stomach, but they'll eat it too."

Janus: "Great..."

Kirby: .. So... is that what's happening to her?

Kirby was able to see the girl and one of the dementors.

Kirby: That's horrible! Ugh! There has to be something that can be done.

He rolls up his sleeves and shakes Teddylot and Coo off.

Coo: I say! You really can't stop being a hero...

--------------------------

The girl continued to stare at the closest cloaked figure. It was getting closer and closer. One of the other shadowy creatures broke off from the pack and decided to look inside one of the nearby cabins.

"Leave her alone, you freak!"

Once again, the blue jacketed boy shows up. He leaps out of his cabin and tries to take a swing at the boney beast. It easily evades the punch and floats above the boy. The spikey headed lad tries to jump and grab a hold of it, but he eventually succumbs to its supernatural power. He falls to his knees, trying to fight back with his own mind. Unfortunately, the boy was now surrounded by two dementors.

The girl takes notice of what he was doing. Unfortunately, her vision begins to blur up. Right after the boy collapses, she follows suit.

An unnusually loud note comes from Luke's flute, as he jumped out of the corridor, this note was full of anger.

"How can you do that!?!?"

Luke started playing a sound loudly, but no one could hear it besides him, the dementors, and the other people in the train car. The sound was full of lovely tunes that warmed everyones heart that heard them, but as the song reached its highest point, Luke stopped playing. He looked at the dementor's, now backed away from him, and sighed. They started to approach him and he put the flute back up to his lips.

"I gave you a chance to leave, but now I have no choice..."

Luke played a final note at such a high pitch that no one could hear and, and not many would want to. Luke walked back to his seat and started looking out the window through shattered frost. He knew what that note would do to a human, but the creatures would have felt a very different thing from it. Every emotion at once would confuse them and send them into a frenzy, most likely sending them away.

Man: More of them? Lovely.

Several pieces of paper flew past the falling heads of the girl and Kirby, striking the dementors closest to them and creating yet more giant dementor-cicles.

((..... Interesting... No one notes the little kids that blacked out after *checks time stamps* Several days ))

Coo: Kirby! Oi! Are you bloody blokes going to just sit there, an' stare like wazzocks? *tries to pull Kirby inside of the cabin* Help me put him on the seat!

----------------------

A voice was slightly heard from a nearby cabin. It was the cabin with the "surviving" Dementor standing infront of the door.

"None of us is hiding Sirius Black under our cloaks. Go."

The shadowy beast just hovered infront of the door. A few moments later, a fierce light shot out of the cabin, completely enveloping the cloaked menace. The Dementor turned around, and started gliding towards the nearest exit. A man, in extremely shabby robes, stepped out of the cabin and looked at the fleeing Dementor. He turns his head and, to his surprise, saw several blocks of ice encasing more of the intruders.

"Couldn't you have dealt with them in a safer manner?", said the man in a hoarse voice. "They can still harm the children."

With the flick of a wrist and wand, the cubes slid down the halls, and out the train's rear.

"Well that was odd. Now, can someone tell me why they fainted?"

Luke looked down at the girl and wondered if anyone would bring her back into the cabin or if he would have to. He waited a few second and then leaned down to see if she was awake. He doubted she would be so picked her up to the best of his ability with her arm over his shoulder and him trying to drag himself and her back into the cabin.

Teddylot: ... Holy Jenkins.

Teddylot had watched the entire scene from his compartment ... amazed. However, Zap and Twister had acted much differently, going into dazes when the dementors had shown up on the train. Twister had even started to hyperventilate. When the hooded monsters were defeated though, they both seemed to wake up and return to normal.

Twister: Man ... *shivers* ... that was creepy.

Zap: That's some welcome to the magical world.

Teddylot: What are you talking about? It was pretty cool.

Twister: *points to Kirby and mystery girl* YOU CALL THAT "PRETTY COOL"!!! ... What the?

Everybody's attention was directed toward the two students who were on the corridoor floor, and Coo, who was furiously trying to drag Kirby into the cabin. Both Twister and Zap went to lift him up, while Teddylot moved the candies and candy wrappers out of one of the seats. They set him down on his back, and, after feeling how cold he was, put a few of those complementary blankets over him.

Teddylot: Thank god for those complementary blankets.

Suddenly, the man that fought away the dementor was standing in the cabin's entrance.

Man: Is he alright?

Zap: He's still alive, yeah, but he fainted. I think it's because of those things.

Man: They're dementors.

Zap: ... sure.

Teddylot: What are dementeds?

Man: Dementors. They're magical creatures that suck the happiness out of everything.

Zap: ... weird.

Man: Well, if you've never heard of a dementor, you must be muggle-born.

Zap: ... umm ... yeah.

Man: Understandable. Many of the students are.

The man took one of the unopened chocolate frogs and fed it to Kirby and helped him chew it up.

Man: Chocolate ... is a good food that helps warm people up after a dementor has been around. I suggest you all have several of them. This boy, especially. *waves to Kirby*

Zap: How?

Man: No time to explain. I have to attend to the other students on the train.

Twister: Wait. What's your name?

Man: I am Professor R. J. Lupin, and I'll be your Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.

The professor turned around and exited the chamber at full speed going to the cabin across from theirs.

Twister: This magic stuff ... I'm starting to not like it much. *takes a bite of his chocolate frog*

Teddylot: *with chocolate frogs in each hand* You have to admit they have great taste in sweets. *takes a huge bite out of one of them* *bliss drool*

((Tsk tsk.. I'm still deducting points from you two since it took so long to give out help ))

Coo: Being one of the only adults I've seen aboard, the bloke has a lot to do.

-------------------------

With the Dementors' presence gone, the train begins to defrost on its own. Of course, with the train being a bit in the north and traveling on a cold, rainy day, it's taking its sweet time. However, it was enough for Ka'nae to wake up.

The tiny dragon pulled himself away from the girl's clamy clutches. It hovered around, and saw Luke and Lupin. It immediately snorted out tiny fireballs.

"If you want to get her, you're going to have to get through me!"

"Settle down, now," said Lupin. "Your friend just had a bad brushing with a Dementor. They sense and feed on the positive emotions, forcing others to relive their worst memory."

The man reached into his robe and pulled out some more choclate and began unwrapping it.

All of a sudden, there was a gasp of air.

---------------------

Coo: Bloody hell! Nearly scared me feathers off, you did. *clicks beak*

Kirby: Holy cucco.. what.. what happened? *smacks lips* Did a choclate frog jump into my mouth or something? *quickly sits up* That girl! Did I get that freak in a sheet?

Coo: Calm down, guv! If you're alright, then that girl is alright.

Kirby: *rubs forehead* Oh.. My head.. Oh no! Coo! We need to hurry! There's a Lavos spawn or something like that in here!

Coo: ...

Kirby: What? Why are you looking at me like that? You heard it roaring, didn't you?

Coo: Um... Kirby... I didn't hear anything like that.

Kirby: ...

"I see... That is why I wasn't effected badly from it. I've never had a horrible event happen to me. No, I don't need any chocolate."

Luke refused the chocolate frog Lupin was about to give him and instead turned back to the window. He still had his flute in hand, but something was wrong with the hand that held the flute. It seemed to be clenched to tightly to be done on purpose...

*thinking* "You idiot, you played that note knowing what could happen and now your hand is almost broken. I better hope it heals soon, if it stays like this more than a day I might be in trouble."

Luke looked towards the girl wondering when she would wake up and feeling a type of absence from her that everyone else had. He began to think about what it could be, but something kept him from getting the answer at this time.

Satchel: "See? What'd I tell you? Start listening to me more, you loser!"

Janus: "Alright, alright! Not like I eat chocolate, anyway..."

Satchel: "Not like you eat, period!"

Janus stuffed the bag under his seat, where its voice could still be heard, though now muffled.

Janus: "Relax, Kirby. They're gone now. Just do what the guy said and eat some chocolate. Personally, I'd like to know why there's something as dangerous as those Dementors on this train, anyway. Especially if it has THAT kind of effect on a guy like Kirb."

((*takes even more points off of Dracoon* ))

The girl's eyes slowly opened up after her sudden gasp. Ka'nae beat his wings more furiously than before.

"Yay! You're awake! Are you ok?"

"What.. what happened?"

Ka'nae flew over to the girl and began to nuzzle her. She was quite confused about her dragon companion's affection. Her eyes wandered a bit and saw a man in raggedy robes and the boy who welcomed her into the cabin. The man held out the chocolate, implying for her to take it.

"Go on," said Lupin, in a comforting tone. "It'll make you feel better."

She knew better than to pass up free chocolate. She grabbed the frog before it squirmed away. She let out a small shriek.

"Another muggle-born. Don't worry. It's just chocolate. It won't do anything. Anyway, I have to check on some others and then speak with the driver."

Lupin quickly walked out of the cabin. The girl stared at the frog with prejudice. She gave it a little poke.

Ka'nae decided to take action.
"Well, if you're not gonna eat it, then I will." The spirit-like dragon nipped at the chocolate frog, tearing off a tiny piece. A little flame flared out of Ka'nae's mouth as he chomped on the chocolate. The girl finally decided to take a piece herself. To her surprise, a great warmth spread from her lips to her entire body.

----------------

Kirby: ... Don't creatures like that keep watch on things? Maybe... we're transporting something dangerous on the train..?

Coo: ... Bloody.. Didn't you hear what I said, Kirby? That spiny bugger is not on. *whispers* And I thought we were supposed to be keeping a low profile*

Kirby: ....

"So are you ok now?"

Luke was adressing the girl even though he looked out the window. His hand still twinged with pain, but it was quickly going away.

"I am surprised you fainted when that happened, you don't look weak after all..."

Luke continued to stare out the window hoping the train would start moving. It shouldn't be long before they got to Hogwarts, but sticking around here was begining to creep him out.

"I'm not weak! I.. "

The girl bit her bottom lip. The fact of the matter was that she did faint. But.. she had every reason to. The feeling was so horrible... And what she started to remember...

"And why haven't you fainted? Compared to her, you look completely weak!"

"Ka'nae!"

The little dragon hovered behind Luke.

"I bet if he got attacked by that monster, he would've still been out cold!"

"Ka'nae.. Stop it. There was more than one.. "

Ka'nae turned his head to look at the girl. She was looking at the floor. Even though the chocolate had spread happiness all over her body, she still looked a bit melancholy.

She continued talking,
"They started to rush in faster when that idiot from earlier came by... and.. Why did he have to jump in like that?"

"What?", snapped Ka'nae.

The girl slowly closed her mouth. She remembered about the idiot. Did he get hauled away by the Dementors? No.. The man would've been chasing after them...

Ka'nae turns around and lets out little flame.
"You see? It's not her fault! It was that other boy who brought more of them in!"

"Ka'nae, stop it right now.... I'm sorry.. um... What was your name again?"

Teddylot: Hmm ... you think these frogs melt in your mouth or in your hand.

Twister: I dunno. Why don't you try it out yourself?

Teddylot: Good idea. *pops some into his mouth*

*few minutes pass*

Twister: Is it working?

Teddylot: Just a-- Drat ... I mashed 'em.

Twister: Well, try again. *slumps more comfortably in his seat*

The train was now at full speed once again and the sun had started to set. The moment of the dementors had become the talk of the train. This brought up other incidents of odd going-ons over the past few years and soon the train was back to its loud chatty self, all except Zap. He had gone into think mode. Thinking about the incident, the new, magical world, but mainly on how it affected Kirby. He had come up with several conclusions as to why ... you know ... but he wasn't sure, and didn't want to impose on his privacy by asking .... but he was curious.

Zap: Sooo ... Kirb, umm, do you know why those ... demen--

However, he was interrupted by two older students with the same freckled face and red hair. Twins, of course, and the most mischievous duo of the school.

Fred: 'Ello.

George: What have we here?

Fred: Looks to me like they're all first years.

George: Except that one in the corner. Looks like a first year teacher to me.

Fred: Right you are.

George: So, did you all get a taste of those nasty dementors. Apparently, they attacked this cart pretty badly.

Teddylot: You know they did! ... man, mashed 'em again.

Fred and George: ...

Zap: Heh ... ;;;. He's our pet.

Fred: You know for all the years we've been in magic.

George: And that's a while, mind you.

Fred: We've never seen anything like that.

Teddylot: 'Cause I'm the only one like that, punk.

Fred: Well, in any case, welcome to Hogwarts. We're the chief mischief makers around here.

George: Here, here.

Teddylot: Here. *mashes another chocolate frog into his mouth*

Fred: We're just going around and making sure everybody puts on their robes before the train arrives.

George: Which would be in around half an hour.

Fred: I'd hurry up if I were you.

George: Well, we must be off. We have mischief to brew.

Fred: *mock* Tata.

The two twins left the compartment with an awkard silence.

Twister: Weirdos.

Zap: What do you expect?

Teddylot: I like those guys ... crud, mashed it again.

Twister: Having troubles with your experiment?

Teddylot: Yep ... looks like the world may never know.

As Lupin left, the fedora-topped man turned to a car door behind him, and began to step out, briefcase in hand, his trenchcoat flapping idly behind him. Halfway into the doorway, he stopped, turning to the crowd behind him, and tipping his hat to the students watching him.

Man: I am... Umino Gurio. Perhaps we will see each other in class, ne?

Umino smiled beneath a pair of clear, circular wire-rimmed glasses, in which a pair of royal blue eyes showed through. That being said, he replaced his fedora on his head, then turned, and exited through the door.

Luke began to laugh to himself, apparently they had missed Lupin's explination of what the things were.

"I may be weaker than her, but that isn't what matters. It all matters on what the most horrible event in your life was. I can't remember a bad one, and I have been carefree a good part of my life. So I just felt a little chill when they came by, and..."

Luke paused as he almost blurted out what he had been doing with the flute. So far no one had asked and thought Lupin and Umino had took care of the dementors in full.

"Anyways, I'm Luke, but I that means you know my name and I don't know yours."

Luke turned from the window and looked at the girl. She was still slightly pale from the attacks, but it was most likely just the memory of the attacks and not the attacks themselves.

The girl thought about Luke's comment about horrible events. She glanced at the boy. She immediately looked down and brushed some hair behind her left ear.

"My.. my name?" she said, nervously. "It's.. some stupid thing... Nakase. Nakase Hikari."
