Once you beat Big Boo, the red coin boos disappear, according to GameFAQs. You're screwed.

Aww crap.

EDIT: Never mind. My last two stars were in the Hazy Maze Cave's secret area.

Actually, if you talk to all the Toads one of them will give you the missing star if you forgot to get it

I had 57, I believe... I use had because my DS got taken by my dad ...

I haven't played the original, but it seems fun enough. Dire Dire Docks has good music, but I personally prefer the Trampoline mini's music (the famous SMB1 theme, but with "do"'s instead of actual instruments)

Multiplayer sucks. 30 seconds/game, and having to download the game (EVEN IF YOU HAVE TWO) is the lord god of suck.

It had potential... a Multiplayer adventure mode would've been even more kickass, though

I can't imagine it working. Here's why:

1 guy in Hazy Maze Cave mission 1
1 guy in hazy maze cave mission 2

Guh.

Or better, what would happen if two people were on the same mission, against a boss. Perhaps the AI would glitch because it doesn't know which to follow.

Both of the situations have relatively simple workarounds. But note that I haven't played the DS version yet, so... yeah.

First one: When two people go to the same level, they have to pick the same star. If one gets there after the other, he/she gets no choice in the matter and is put at the start of the level on the same star as the first one there. If they get there simultaneously (unlikely) then one player's buttons are temporarily "locked out" while the other chooses the star.

Second one: It's possible to program the AI differently in case of a multiplayer adventure. Not sure how, not being a programmer or romhacker or game creator myself, but I'm certain it is possible.

My main concern is the difficulty in controlling the character. Considering that SM64 originally had a stick to work with, while I think the DS has just a d-pad... how hard is it to control compared to the original?

Meh. Even if it were corrected, it goes after one person while someone else easily chases after the boss and attacks them without any problem.

Anyway. You can use the touchscreen as a sort of analog stick - touch a point and until you take your finger off the screen, that point is the "center" of the stick. Slide your thumb forward to run forward, etc.

I finally got a chance to play the multiplayer mode at school. It sucks because of the time limit, but otherwise, pretty frenzied. I find it pretty fun to utilize every characters moves - like Mario kicking someone's ass off the top of a tree, and into the castle's moat.

I dunno, the whole thing seems lame. I mean why even be a character like Wario when everyone else beats him to every objective?

Wario does have the ability to pick up the other players and carry them (so does Yoshi in a sense). He can also swing players around, but that's about it.

BTW everyone, what are your best minigame records?

For Bob-omb squad I've got 60100 points... For Wanted my score is 253, where I got bored and stopped... Same for Puzzle Panic and 100.

Like I said, it gets really, really boring as you get farther in, but it doesn't get more difficult. I just quit 'cause I couldn't stand it any more, but I've heard of people getting up to 1000.

I just got DS and SM64DS for Christmas, so I'm playing it now. I have about 25 stars and unlocked Mario. The addition of Red-Coin seeking Bob-omb Buddies is cool, except for the red shoes. Why red shoes?

Its still the same giant clock... just more impossible to die from falling

Personally, they made some of the really hard stuff I enjoyed doing really easy now But, overall, its still a good game

P.S. Nice reference to Ed Edd 'n Eddy there Kyouji
