Since the NES doesn't use actual RGB values, no palette has gotten it exactly right. It's even harder to get 'exact' values when the same NES can look slightly different on 2 different TVs. So there is no real 'accurate' palette. Just pick whichever one looks the best to you (or most like how your NES looks). Personally... I like the palette BMF came up with (or at least I think it was BMF) that was in that Art of Rom Hacking doc Vagla wrote a while back (or at least I think it was Vagla). If a hack comes with a palette included, I'll use that, but otherwise I either use the default emulator palette, or BMF's NES palette, which, for the convenience of those that don't have it, you can find here To answer your question, Smallhacker, I personally think FCEU (or FCEUd) looks the closest to the original NES. Since I haven't played a game on a real NES for half an enternity (back when I was 5-6 years), I had no idea which palette was the most accurate. (I'm using NESten and FCEU and noticed quite a difference, so I wanted to know. ) Anyway. Thanks. (edited by Smallhacker on 11-23-04 04:34 PM) |
