| i have a question, I couldnt find any info on how much video memory it has, im looking at a computer, it has that card, but i only want it if its around 128MB...I checked the intel site, and it doesnt say how much.. | |||

| integrated graphics card? sounds like the card is embedded into the system. If that is the case, how can you use it your computer...not unless you are getting the computer itself.. if that is the case, start->run->"dxdiag" and select the video tab will tell you how much ram the video card has |

| its a compaq, so it doesnt really matter, I found the same on on a staples site, and it says 64 MB shared, can anyone tell me, it says shared, so what type of games will it be able to play? I know it will be able to play doom 3, but it will have to be on the lowest quality...and its integrated, so I couldnt get a new one right? |

| The memory of the GFX card cen go _up_ to 64 MB - and is taken off the physical memory (RAM). Running games like Doom3 or Half Life 2 fluently might be pretty impossible, maybe with low details. Even my GeForce MX4000 (128 MB, APG-slot) won't be able to run of those games fluently in middle or even high detail, but since I anyway don't play games except N64, PSX and other systems, it doesn't matter. If you are looking for a decent system for gaming mainly, avoid on-board video cards. Usually an external one, like a Radeon 9800Pro might be better, although much more expensive. | i doubt it will even be able to play doom3 even at the lowest setting...my friend has a Geforce FX5600 and it can barely play it... if it is integrated, you hopefully have the option to disable the video card and put in an internal video card yourself. if you don't, then I suggest you do not buy that computer if you want to play doom3. A decent video card to play doom3 is an ATi Radeon 9800 with at least 128MB of ram... |

| well, I dont really want to play doom 3, I was just using it as an example, but my step dad, has a work laptop, and he has doom 3 on it, and it only has a 64 mb video card, and it can only run it on low detail only, the only problem, is the video card overheats after awhile, if he doesnt prop the back up to let cool air in...if I do buy it, ill ask the people there if it has an option to use a different video card...if not ill just try to find one similar but not with an integrated card. does anyone know if a "S3 Unichrome Integrated" is better then the intel extreme one? | there isn't any good integrated video cards for the PC for gaming... All the ones that are appropriate for gaming are expansion cards. However, if you plan on playing games that have been released around 2001 and before, then most integrated cards nowadays are strong enough to play them. It is just the more recent games that integrated cards are not fit for like Doom3 and Knights of the Republic | |||

celeron?  a celeron is good enough if you do not plan on getting games--otherwise, do not get the budget CPU and get the flagship CPUs (either Intel Pentium or Athlon Sempron) |

| Oh, God... 1) Only one PCI slot? Blech. You really should have a good few of those. 2) Celeron = that brown stuff that frequently floats in toilets. 3) No floppy drive? WTF? 4) Integrated video, especially Intel, r teh sux0r. 5) You're probably gonna want around 60-80GB if you spend a decent amount of time on the computer. 6) XP Home is crap. I suggest either XP Pro, 98, or Linux of some sort. 7) Hey, I can count to 7! Believe me, I have one a lot like that. It's quite sucky. |

| My main beef with the Celeron is that it well, yes, it sucks. No other way of putting that. It isn't even a discount card, it is like a 15 inch cock slapping you in the face, yup, that's the Celeron for you. But that is a MEGA budget PC. If you plan on doing anything more than relatively basic gaming and other "lesser"  computer functions...yeah. It won't stand up to the next generation of PC games. I'm pretty sure that a PC like that may be better than mine, but it is still barely going to crap by with games like WC3.If I could go back in time, I would've thrown down the extra 300 for a better computer. But I guess I can't now. And well, you're smart in going to a modern mid-range video card from ATI, but I'd suggest going higher. Try for the 9700 Pro. 150 bucks and it is a beaut. As for OS, bug the people to give you something better, I use XP home. I honestly think that it tries to spit in my face. It really hates me. I'd have to suggest going Pro on your PC. Linux is a little too hard for a layman to operate effectively enough and you'll probably have some compatibility issues, etc. I'm trying to start running that OS right now myself, but it is a difficult process  Edit:: Fear the MOBO on that thing, it sounds like they ripped it out of a 286 and brought it closer to the times (edited by Ziffski on 11-22-04 04:54 PM) |

| I dont really plan on playing many new games anyway, and im gonna be getting another hard drive anyway...and ill most likely install linux as well...and for some reason, this $500 one is better then all the $600 ones at futureshop....and as far as I can tell, that video card isnt integrated...all the ones that are say they are...also remember, that im looking at ones that are availiable in the store where I live...most on the site arent..all the ones in my price range are Celerons anyway...and if I can, ill upgrade the celeron to anything else, if thats possible. and trust me ANYTHING is almost better then what I use now... anything up to 800 in futureshop has all integrated cards, except this one doesnt say if it is or not, only says what it is, and most likely, the only game ill be really playing is Morrowind...which only needs a 32mb at best. edit:also, it doesnt say, but according to intel's info, it has to be a Celeron D, because the normal celerons, only have 400 bus, this one is 533, this is the D (edited by Dcahrakos on 11-22-04 07:58 PM) (edited by Dcahrakos on 11-22-04 07:59 PM) (edited by Dcahrakos on 11-22-04 08:25 PM) |

| That system would probably run War3 all right and would likely be passable for less recent games... but you're better off getting a PC with a video card, even if it's not so great. You can always upgrade. Even if the integrated video has 32/64MB of memory, it's still going to be way behind any comparable ATI/nVidia card with the same memory specs. |

| ive looked more more, but all the ones at the futureshop here, are more expensive, and are a little worse then this one, only thing is they come with Dvd-roms, and more pci slots, and stuff, but I think after using this one for 2 years, with a 4MB video card, 196MB ram, 10GB HDD, no cd burner, no sound, etc, anything will be better then the one now...lol |
