If they do, couldn't you just put a strong magnet next to your arm and wipe the ship clean of everything? Wouldn't an EMP destroy all of those chips? So many what ifs... I wouldn't get one, personally, because if you need to know who I am, and I don't want you to know, then why the HELL am I going to have a chip in my arm that lets everyone in the government know where I am.

About the size of a grain of rice, each VeriChip contains a unique verification number, which can be used to access a subscriber-supplied database providing personal related information. And unlike conventional forms of identification, VeriChip cannot be lost, stolen, misplaced or counterfeited. Well, I don't think it works the same way credit cards or compact discs do. I'm no wizard at this so I'm not exactly sure what effect EMPs would have on RFs. Oh, and.... Once implanted just under the skin, via a quick, painless outpatient procedure (much like getting a shot), the VeriChip can be scanned when necessary with a proprietary VeriChip scanner. A small amount of Radio Frequency Energy passes from the scanner energizing the dormant VeriChip, which then emits a radio frequency signal transmitting the individuals unique verification (VeriChipID) number. The VeriChip Subscriber Number then provides instant access to the Global VeriChip Subscriber (GVS) Registry - through secure, password protected web access to subscriber-supplied information. This data is maintained by state-of-the-art GVS Registry Operations Centers located in Riverside, California and Owings, Maryland. That doesn't exactly instill confidence and security in me either. Last thing I need is some guy picking up a horde of my personal and medical records while sitting in a car with a newly created scanner. (And you know one will be made too.) Password protected? Yeah, we all know how passwords have kept us safe over these last few decades. |

Crap, they could use the chip in place of a drivers licence or id. So then if we wanted to drive a car, we'd need a chip. There are so many things that could happen. or even....credit cards! They said on that site that it could be used for money use..That means that if the government all the sudden decides they want us to have the chips, they could overall stop producing dollar bills forcing us to have the chips. Why as Ziff not informed of Revelations themed threads? 666 is nothing to do with man or beast. In the ORIGINAL Revelations, not this tempered and pissed on book you see in the New International versions of today, is quite implicit on what the number of the beast lies at. It is neither man, nor beast, nor technology. It is not a date. It is an allusion towards a historical reoccurance. A rise of Babylonian ideals, sin, vice and hatred. A total lack of morals. That is why the two beasts rise from the sea and the whore of Babylon returns. If you want to argue more about this, I'll talk with my priest tomorrow and get his expert interpretation on the topic Seeing as he has a Greek manuscript in the church. |

Majin: pretty much.... it would probably reduce crime.... make catching criminals easier.... but it would reduce freedom.... you take the good with the bad I guess... if the world turns this way.... what can we do but go along with it? and who's to say it is all bad? unless you are actually doing illegal things why would anyone care? I dunno.... I'm just trying to see the good this could do.... too many of us have this silly sci fi imagination of the government doing weird things and blah blah blah, I really need a movie title to go in all that.... then it would all come together.... |

You didn't see this before? I've been hearing it on the radio (Coast to Coast AM) for quite a while now... probably a year or so. This is scary though. Especially the fact that the chips are proprietary (as far as I know)... you have absolutely no idea what they have. Weather they just contain your name or your bank account PIN number, you really won't know. |

Hah, my little dog have been marked with a chip for years now. It's nothing new really for me... thought i'm little unsure if you should chip humans. I mean, the thought of having a chip somewhere in your body is just... I doubt the goverment could force such things at people, people would be furious if they tried to force it on them. |

And this could very well be just around the corner. I think Dave Mustaine said it best when he said "Next thing you know they'll take my thoughts away." |

Interesting stuff here ... GATTACA is another good movie, that could probably tie in with this at least -somewhat-, New Age for humans, etc. Like most of you guys said .. it seems to be invading us, something we don't want, and I fully agree. And with the Brain Waves thing, which I've heard of last year in school, I really don't think people want to know what goes on in my little head. |

Legion, that is just plain freaky It also looks kind of uncomfortable for that quadriplegic guy to have that hole in his head (as well as the metal-looking thing that's around it). I can understand why he'd want it though, but still, I hope it's only going to be considered for people that end up in the same position he was in I remember joking around before about the 'thought police', but if this thing ever becomes more commonplace, the joke'll be on us Originally posted by Trapster |

My question is what if you get shot in the arm or suffer some form of trauma to that area and it damages the chip? You'd be screwed when they rushed you to a hospital.

Good point. I'd think there'd be records of when you got the thing put in you, where on your body, etc. so they'd know they wouldn't be able to 'use' it if that certain part of your body was damaged. To think it's so darn tiny as well To me, that makes it seem like it'd be less likely to get damaged (smaller, so it's harder to hit), but also, it's smaller, so it might break or something easier |

I wonder; if ever that thing did get enforced in the US, and nobody said anything against it, how long it'd be before it got considered here in Canada I hope that never happens. |
