This is what happened at my school today. At 1:40 (we get out at 1:55), the science department head came on the PA, and told us that we're being dismised, we are not to come back on school grounds, and all extra-cirricular activities are cancelled. Turns out that someone wrote on a desk that "at 12:20 tomorrow the school will blow up" or something like that. I made light of this: The source of the pest was something scrawled on the desk "it will go off at 12:20" carved right next to "michelle loves benny" nevermind that it's now 1:40 mr knowlton is running around screaming "Good lordy! What about ADP, and our after school detentions?" A meeting was quickly called, with many apprehensions Bomb squad was called in careful not to trip any pins. They made a stop at the bathroom, full of smoke, and one accidently got a toke. "OH MY GOD" he screamed, as he walked into a wall and ruptured his spleen. Administration couldn't take it, they weren't sure if CHS would make it. So Dimicco came over the PA, talking at a snail's pace, just in case. One hour and twenty minutes later, never mind the fact that we all could have blown to the celestial equator. "Don't come back!" said the teachers, so why not, we'll make our own bleachers. Gathering in crowds in the parking lot Are cars flammable? No, of course not. If the school does blow to timbuktu, don't say I didn't warn you. But then again, "michelle loves benny" and don't you believe that too? |

Sorry for asking the obvious, but the poem is about what actually happened, and you made the poem about it, correct? I've been in school once when we heard something over the P.A. about a bomb threat. I was in French class at the time, and our teacher thought it was a fire drill Apparently someone typed up something on the computer, and either left it on the screen or printed it out and left the paper somewhere. We got to leave school, only to come back the next day and find out it was a hoax. The things people'll do to get out of school |

I dunno, I sort of made up the poem. I'm not sure what administration really did, but an interesting side note is that our principal looks like a walrus. |

Recently our school district recieved "bus bomb threats" for several schools. This was announced at about .. 2:30 or so, 30 minutes until I would be leaving to go home, riding a bus. (Yep, I ride a bus, not willing to pay the gas fee considering my school is about 40 minutes away) Re-issuring isn't it? |

lol thats a pretty funny poem..I remember a few years ago, someone called the school I was at, and said there was a bomb ready to go off, and we all got evacuated, and they made us stay off school for the next 3 days, cause it was a huge school, and they had to make sure.

I wonder though. Wouldn't writing that sort of thing on a desk be kind of risky? It probably wouldn't be very hard to just take a look at the handwriting on the desk compared to writing on a paper or something and see if there's any difference. That's what I wondered when it happened back in high school for me. We all had our own usernames for the computers, and there were dummy accounts that you could get into (like 'Dell' and 'ghost'), but even then, all you'd have to do is check who was logged on when the threat was typed out, and if they used an 'anonymous' account, just find out who was in the library when. It almost sounds like I'm planning something like that myself I'm not that crazy though |

Heh. At my school, they line us up in front of dry wall in case of a school shooting. You know make the job go faster.

They hide us under desks. That way we can't move, so we're stationary targets. Nice poem, Toxic. Maybe they were worried about it blowing up the next day, thinking for some reason that it had been written on the desk that day. =/ |

Or, because the calling of a lock-down negates the evactuation from the fire bell, hopefully the kid doesn't kill us then set the school on fire!" Idiots. Doomed idiots. *looks around, before putting the paint-ball gun away* The only time school got out early at my old school was when the near-by car dealership went up in flames. The woodshop class, which I was in, had a door leading straight outside, so the teacher told us all to go home. |

Write up a thing like that on a desk in a Swedish and none ever take it seriously. But then we really hadn't any bombs set off here in schools... And besides, don't you think bomb threats would be more formal than written on a desk? |

I heard there was one at an elementary school I went to. It was a few months before I got there... There was even a "bomb" too, although it was just a dodgeball painted black with some wires taped to it. |

How stupid can you get? If I ended up in one of those situations, I'd do whatever I could to protect myself. I think one of the reasons they may do that though is that if someone were to come into the room with a gun, they'd be more likely to shoot at arm-level or somewhere up there. Of course, if you're huddled under your desk and that sort of thing happens, I'd imagine half of the class would be too afraid to move What Ziffski said really makes me wonder. I can see a bit of sense in making you get under the desks, but making you line up against the wall is the worst idea I've ever heard, unless there's some door at the end of the wall, in which case I can see them lining you up so you wouldn't crowd the door trying to get out. I personally could only see those sort of actions being taken in public schools. When you get up to high school or even college, you should be able to take care of yourself. |

I went to a Catholic high school, and we had a similarly stupid lockdown policy whereby we all had to stay in whatever room we were in at the time. No idea what the reason for this is. |
