Why? Simple math really. 3.141592654 x 2.71828183 = 8.53973422862967682. Pi = 3.141592654. e = 2.71828183. So the expression is Pi x e... or as you'd say it in algebra... PIE (edited by HyperHacker on 11-10-04 10:13 PM) |

Except you'd use the little symbol, so it wouldn't spell pie... it would just look funny. The best number is negative three. I just pulled that out of my ass. But it's the best anyway. |

...But then you get attacked by those people who say there is no 3. But they don't say there's no negative 3. And thus the world explodes. ...I was always partial to lucky 7. |

Well here's an easy chance to reference Life, the Universe, and Everything. This chance, however, I will not take. Instead I comment on the thread's reasoning. I like pie. We all like pie. The best pie is chocolate satin pie. So sweet, so smooth, so tasty... Chocolate isn't just a taste, it's an experience, and chocolate satin pie is so delicious that - I'm beginning to salivate. I'd better go eat something. In conclusion, I slaughtered a cow. |

I already have the best reference because it's way more obscure. But Jesper has made it his personal mission to make everybody aware. Tiredness is the max incoherency!!!!! |

actually e + pi is by far most interesting than any of those, mathematically. I'm pretty sure it hasn't been proven to be transcendental. (i.e. not the root of a finite polynomial with rational coefficients.) Yes now you know how I get my jollies.

Oh yeah and what about the mathematical properties of negative three, huh? Like... it's less than zero. That's pretty fucking awesome. Yeah. Negative three is way cooler than pi+e or whatever you want to write home about.

Well in all honesty I'd have to say the number 910 is actually the best. Just think for a second and you'll see why. And since numbers are commutative under multiplication, we have the odd result that PIE = EPI, according to Hyperhacker. Who knew greek prepositions were so tasty. And since numbers are also commutative under addition, and a plus sign can be read as a lowercase "t," your earlier precious number could either be "pite" or "etpi." Um. -3 -3 -3 -3 |

Better than both pe and e+p, I always liked eip= -1 ... or ii = e-p/2 (0.20787881276893) ... they don't exactly spell pie, but close enough

Technically, Pi+e is more correct than Pi x e, Or else you wouldn't get Pie, you'd get Pi(e).

Well every number can be divided by any number. Except 0. Everyone's a slut! edit: I know someone's going to respond to what I said with "actually, this happens so you can divide 49.3 by 0 to get apple pie yay", so just shut up. I don't care.
