I haven't tested my current connection really, but I know that my connection is 5 megabit. Which is plenty for what I do with it, and not bad for FREE.

I really should find something to download sometime. I should get the rest of the Fedora ISO's so I can fix my stupid Fedora....well, rather just fix lilo.

The max downloading speed I seen was 63 kb/s. Sometimes it starts at 80 kb/s but the figure goes down to 63 to get stable there. And I was uploading some stuff while downloading that file so...

They gonna release a faster connection soon here, maybe in 6 monhts or so. Guess who would get it?

My connection is enough most of the time, as long i'm not downloading anything... :/

I've seen 300kbps downloads before, they were fun. The thing is, a lot of sites throttle their bandwidth/packet shape downloads down to 30kbps.

Microsoft isn't one of them though, and it's fun downloading some things from Microsoft as a result.

I like my connection. It's MINE, while shared with my roommates, I'M the one that does the bandwidth rapeage anyways. Plus, it's free, and there are no wires

300kbps is horribly slow...

you probably mean 300 Kps

my cable modem is 3 Mbps... which equates to about 360 Kps

300 Kps is about 2.5 Mbps

63Kps is about 512Kbps

Your DSL is probably a 768Kbps DSL if you say sometimes you see 80k/sec though....

Free?! Bidness-related, I'm guessing?

Yeah, so I'm on dialup, so I'm just lusting for anything above, like, 4.5 K/sec.

Okay okay, so I forgot the capitals, I mean KB per second (nitpick my lack of capitalisation willya -- you're lucky I can even type legibly at ALL at the moment with my wrist in a splint. *shitty cause the physio's been inflicting pain again*)

I'll clarify my connection.

I am connected to a wireless network. My link to the Wireless Network goes over just slightly above 15km direct line of sight across the City of Adelaide. There is a small high gain directional antenna on my roof that facilitates this link.

Inside my house, there is a small and crappy omnidirectional antenna that then spreads this connection about so I can sit in bed in my pyjamas and write crap like this, telling other people what my home network is like.

The Internet connection for this Wireless Network is not DSL, it's Fiber Optic, and my share of the Fiber is @ 5000 kbps. It, and the wired stuff in the server room, are pretty much the only wires (excluding the short one connecting roof antenna with house antenna). And as stated, they're over 15 kilometres away from my house.

Look ma, no wires!

My favorite part is that it's free, and I don't have to do jack for the free internetness to keep happening

It's also funny telling non-geeks that my Internet Connection just comes out of "thin air"
