| If rips were allowed I would so totally post my koopa replacement, Mario. See the shell is his head and the koopa is his body and all the different colors are Mario, Luigi, Fire Mario, and Fire Luigi... This is just for one level but meh it's fairly kickass. To save this post from being spam I present my second and third entries... Raven and Giant Raven. They replace goomba and mega mole. Notice that giant raven has different colors. Palette thing. Think of it as a nice touch. These are modelled after those in Yoshi's Island though due to size differences they are not the same.  |

I noticed that since Mario RPG, most the Boo Ghosts in later released games use somewhat of the same style. | So I take inspiration from other works. That just means I'm more productive than people who limit themselves. Yeah, the small raven is more or less a rip, but really, how can you criticize the Boos for being the same as ANYTHING? Only one frame is taken from YI, the rest is all improvised or of my own design. We all get inspiration from other works, and base things off of other things. There's no shame in it, and until you can make something that is not inspired by anything you've ever seen, I'll simply continue to take your opinion exactly as seriously as I do now. Plus, your sprites mostly have Japanese-sounding names, which is not flawed if you're Japanese, but you're not and so you seem like a poser. And posers suck. Also, your sprites look completely out of place with one another, aren't very colorful, and are lame in general. (edited by Kratos Aurion on 11-12-04 07:49 PM) |

Originally posted by Juggling Joker So if they are clearly rips, can you clearly state where they come from? @Anyone or everyone: There is no use submiting Rips, so if your Sprite is not somewhat original, then don't submit it (using an existing Sprite as a guide to make your own is ok, because you are still drawing a Sprite from Scratch, or at least revising it if nothing else,... therefore it is not the same,... though if it ends up looking almost identical, then don't expect it to win). Whoa! Watch the flames people. Using a base is good to learn to draw better, but just don't take the image and change one pixel. I used Yoshi's Island as a base and look what I did with the foreground (yes, it isn't a sprite, but this is to clearly make a point). See? Using the same texturing pattern as YI, I made that tileset. It isn't a rip as you can clearly see. So, when making a sprite, basing it off of another game is good as long as it is just based, not completly ripped. And please, if someone sees a rip, say what game it is from so everyone can clearly see they are rips. Makes things a whole lot easier and also makes sure nobody is accusing someone of rips if it isn't a rip. I need to make another sprite. Something creative and such... |
