Now I know most of you will be going, "Wha? Who the hell is Dr Who?", well Dr Who, is the longest running Sci-Fo series of all time (or at least it WAS), it was cancelled 8 years ago, but they've recently announced plans to ressurect the franchise.
It'll be written by Russel T Davies (who also wrote the excellent "Second Coming" and was the creator of "Queer as Folk"). The new doctor is "Christopher Eccleston" Who is probably unknown to most non-brits. He was in 28 days later (the Army chief), and also in the "Second Coming".

I think he's an excellent writer, and that together with the cloest thing us brits have to Joss Whedon, should be something special....

Cool. I used to watch this show when I was younger. We are talking about the show where they travel around in a space-ship disguised as a telephone booth, right?

I've never seen Christopher Eccleston before. The best thing about the Doctor is his eccentricity, so if he can go up against my favorite Tom Baker, he'll be a winner for sure

The only quibble I have is that Terry Nation expressly forbade his creation, the Daleks, to be used again by the BBC. The Doctor would be nothing without his arch enemy

Kas - They're actually in negotiations with Terry Nation's estate (as Terry has now passed away) to bring the Daleks back, after all when Terry Nation passed away Dr WHo was dead and buried). The last thing I heard "Negotiations were going well"

Negotiations to bring back an alien race...

I've seen very little Dr. Who - a few years ago on Space (when the channel was starting out), they showed OLD Dr. Who b/w episodes. I watched them before I went to high school in the morning, but had no idea what was going on.

Colleen: It sounds strange, but without the Daleks, the venture would be a total flop for sure.

Elmo: *nods* That's why it was so uncertain as to how the Daleks would make a comeback. Anyway, the news sounds good

They'll have to come up with new and improved Daleks, ones that aren't afraid of stairs
Colleen - It would be like trying to bring back Trek without the Klongons/Borg/Romulans e.t.c

Kas - After some trawling I found the latest news here

CG Darleks? Legs for stairs? Bleh! That'd be taking away everything that is good about the Daleks... They're killing machines, and they should remain cold and as inhuman as possible.

Most people would strongly disagree with this, but I think the Daleks are perfect villains. They're about as far from humanity as you can get, and they're bloody terrifying.
They're slow, ruthless, systematic, efficient machines designed for genocide. They also have scary voices Can't be improved

Ah, now I understand. I wouldn't know who the Daleks were for the life of me by watching the b/w stuff we got.

It's weird when something like this comes along - you'd like to use technological advances to improve the show, but you also know that half your fanbase will piss on you if you do so.
