Has anyone read the book / seen the movie?

I bought the book yesterday, and it's written in like, crapese. This is honest to god a sample from it.

So ah dae jist as recommended. Ah listen to tae the voice ay experience.

I mean, wtf. I'm grinning and bearing it, but wow. Just wow.

And I started the movie this morning too. It seems like it's really good, and I want to finish both of them, but the spelling just got to me in the book.

I probably won't bother with the book. I read through A Clock Work orange and that was bad enough. The movie is probably the mooost memorable I've ever seen. I recall random moments out of that movie all the time. It's just awesome.

Holy shit, if I had watched Trainspotting in high school class, I would have thanked the teacher with a gift. I wonder how much heroin is like the portrayal in the movie. I would try it if it weren't so addictive. (Not shooting up! Needles + injection into me = no likies)

Well it's not just Britain, it's Scotland specifically, and the reason the book's written like that is to reflect the Scottish accent.

I LOVE the film though,

"Choose Life, Choose a Job, choose a Career, choose a family....." (Yep I can reel off that whole speech from the top of my head

Trapster - I wonder if the film you were thinking of was "Lost in Translation"?

One of my favorite movies, and one of my favorite soundtracks (Sleeper-Atomic and Underworld-Born Slippy are the greatest), however, I have not read the book. I have the opening speech hanging on a poster on my bedroom wall, though.

The other thing, in the movie, I had a tough time understanding everying, lol.

I couldn't pick up with the (I have no idea what type of accent that is, like specifically, besides British) accents they have going.

I haven't seen the movie for ages, but I remember how much of a shocker it was to my mother when she first saw it.

I think several scenes did her head in, and by the end of it, she wasn't so concerned with the usage of drugs anymore....

I wish my toilet had mines floating in it!
My brother and I (and whoever stayed over back then) used to watch this all the time. It's just one of those movies I can see over and over again and still watch entirely. And turn the subtitles on (if you got it on DVD); Scottish is shithard to understand else, as you might've noticed.

oi yeh cunts, a wee bit o'shite.

Finished watching it. Not really what I expected, but I didn't know what to expect.

Gotta love the

Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself.

though.
