Hey peoples. Ever want to play a rom hack but have no idea which ones to play? If you're like me, you probobly head over to the finished hack thread in order to know which games you can plays for the best full blown experience. The problem is though, that you have no idea if the game is good or not. So therefore I have come up with this idea. I will create a thread dedicated to the review of a particular finished hack. Then it is up to you people to give your best review of the game filling in your ideas and comments. There will be a number of areas the hacks will be rated on based on a 1-10 scale

GFX: How well done or unique the sprites/GFX look in the game.

Originality: Basically what distiquishes this hack from all the others. Is it boring do to blandness, or does it captivate our attentions with stand out styles or storylines.

Level Design: How well the level is designed. Are they fun to play or do they bore you with designs that are "unwelly" put together.

Fun Factor: How much fun the hack was to play.

Difficulty: (rated by name, your own personal opinion)

Overall: The overall quality of the hack. Not nesicarly an average of the other areas but should somewhat reflect that. Don't give everything 2s but give overall a 9...

Additional Comments: Anything you would like to say about the game.

After a while. this thread will be linked to the appropriate hack in the finished hacks thread. After this, I will create a new thread for the next finished hack and so on and so forth. Feel free to rate and share your opinions. Today's hack up for review will be

Super Demo World: The Lengend Continues by FuSoYa

Here's my review...

GFX: 9. The graphics are incredible. Many great rom rips and a good portion of original work. It would be nice to see some edited sprites but otherwise it looks absolutely beautiful.

Originality: 10. Wow! There is a good deal of ASM work here that really make the game stand out. Where can I begin. Pipes designed to function just like those in SMB3, an item storage box system for a whole slew of wacky things, special blocks and more! Really quite amazing.

Level Design: 10. Very, very nice. Feels very proffesional. It feels as though I am playing a game from nintendo itself!

Fun Factor: 9. A great joy to play. I have no major issues with the games. (other then my own personal anoyance of having to try the message block item on every stage to know certain hints and stuff)

Difficulty: Medium. Not to hard but not overly easy. You don't die too often but there aren't like 3-up moons everywhere... Good stuff..

Overall: 9. Very well done. This is a game that really stands out in my mind. I loved to play it, and the overall quality was simply amazing. It really goes to show you what you can do with SMW if you understand it as much as this man. THe guy who made the editor itself!

Additional Comments: I really like the addition of the item storage system. Too bad FuSoYa won't release his secrets to his adoring public because we want it SO BAD!! Oh well, many good times from this hack...

You should just keep all the reviews in one topic. Save some board space, I don't think anyone would want 10 threads when 1 would suffice.

Wait a minute, wait a minute, no. You completely overlook the fact that you can skip a large portion of it due to a simple mistake, and can't get back to it. You don't care that you're forced to kill yourself to complete a level. You acknowledge the fact that the message block thing is incredibly stupid, but don't take points off for it. Guh?

Kratos' note: I didn't like Demo World. This is not to say I hate everything, as many people have suggested. Don't do so yourself. Also off the record Rob-omb's quest was awesome.

yeah, but the point was that each particular thread could be linked to its respected game in the finished hack thread.

And (off the record) thanks for the complement...

You could just as easily link to the seperate posts instead. I think you can do that on this board, anyway.

Yeah, you can. Observe.

good point... so I guess, I should just dedicate a thread to reviews and about every week or so, change the focus of it to the next hack? That sounds pretty good..
