| Ohio and Florida will be interesting tomorrow. *IF* all of those Florida ballots are in play, we're not done there. Same with Ohio unless Bush somehow pulls away with the last 20% or so of the votes. Kerry should pull closer in Ohio but how close is anyone's guess. Bush has a 20,000 vote lead in New Mexico with 20% still to report. It's in play - barely. Nevada is DEFINITELY in play with Kerry having a 3,000 vote lead - then again, only 17% of precincts have reported. I love Election time just to be able to analyze all kinds of data like this. I was inches away from voting but then I changed my mind at the last minute.  Also, my dad keeps saying that this is rigided for Bush to win.  Which would so not be cool in anyway shape or form. |

Mind you.... next year we'll have our chance at the polls to get rid of his best mate, so don't you worry  At the time of typing, it's still too close to call, but if Bush wins either New Mexico or Nevada, the squabbling over Ohio doesn't matter. As it stands he has a couple thousand lead in New Mexico and Nevda (and about a lead of 130,000 in Ohio). Looks like fear won out over common sense. *sighs* |

| Um, I highly doubt anyone was scared into voting for Bush. As a matter of fact, it just prooves that we're NOT afraid of terrorist threats. Osama said that whatever states that had Kerry as the winner would not be attacked. We disregarded because we're not afraid. And that's no matter what propagandic horseshit you hear, America is not a nation of cowards in fear of a bunch of terroristic bastards who are only digging theirselves a deeper whole. It was a painful single minded arrogance, evangelical christian voters, and a total flop on the inflated projection of the youth vote that lost for Kerry. Of course the problem was much larger and broader than that, as the Democrats were thoroughly packaged, stamped, and delivered today/last night. | |||

| Alrighty, so I stayed up till 2:30 trying to figure out who our president would be, but since I have a midterm in about 30 minutes, I had to give it up. And I wake up this morning to find...the same three states undecided. Now...these damn provisional ballots. From what I understand, they're basically ballots from people who weren't registered to vote when they got to the polls. Excuse me if I'm mistaken, but isn't that a little bit unfair to count those votes? If they're not registered, why the hell does their ballot matter? The rest of us got registered or mailed ballots in on time, what makes them so different? Maybe I haven't heard the real use of these things, but so far I'm saying poo on provisional. |

| It's the status quo. It's almost the exact status quo, except maybe New Mexico and New Hampshire switching. I can't believe that, after the last 4 years, we're back to almost the exact same electoral college distribution as 2000. I guess the "OMG TERRORISTS RALLY AROUND THE PRESIDENT" upswing of vote was almost precisely balanced by "WTF ARE YOU DOING IDIOT?" rather than the latter winning out as would have been sensible. Oh well, it's not THAT bad... just the same ugly status quo as before - Bush in the white house controlling both houses. The US re-elected Nixon without destroying itself... it can survive Bush and can heal, and will be stronger for it. In 4 more years the national security bugaboo, which is how Bush won, won't still be as powerful... and 4 more years of Bush and Bush's economy and Iraq policies will alienate and jade a lot more people. The frustrated "minority" - the apathetic freaks and the liberals and the leftists and the apathetic youngins etc etc - will come out of this result more energised and determined, and will redouble their efforts as a result of this. Remember where the Democrats were two years ago - this result is probably progress. Expect the Dems to take the White House in 2008, and perhaps even sieze the Senate or HoR in 2006. 2004 is bad, but it'll get better. And the next 4 years is their fault. | It's your RIGHT to vote. It's not a law. Now, here's where it stands this morning. Kerry has conceeded the election to Bush, giving him... as much as I hate to say it... a second term. HOWEVER, it's not "official" yet. The count is 254-252 in favor of Bush according to the AP. Nevada went to Bush overnight, Wisconsin to Kerry. New Mexico, Iowa and Ohio are "still in play" - however, Bush has a 140,000 vote lead in Ohio with 100% of the precincts reporting. At this time, due to Kerry's shocking concession, the lawyers will likely not be called in - apparently Kerry and his team looked at the numbers in Ohio and decided it would be pointless to go in there with lawyers. And I don't know what'll happen with the absentee ballots in Florida - there's nearly a million that need to be counted, I think. It was a brave move by Kerry to conceed, I'll give him that - but somehow I don't think it's 100% over. Maybe 95% but not totally over. |

| The count is 254-252 A lot of news stations are saying that, because they don't want to admit it yet. The numbers that we're getting is that Bush has 274 electoral votes and he even won the popular vote. Not since, I think, 1988, did the winning canidiate win both.
