| Yes it's been confirmed :'( (I got my info from RPGamer.com) Well, it seems after 20 years working for Square, Uematsu's off for greener pastures - he's joining a company named Smile Please this month, and is basically gonna do freelance work from now on. Any thoughts/reactions? |

| He's still going to be doing VG Music, which is the most important thing. I think that's basically an admission that he's still going to be working on the Final Fantasy games. I don't think it's going to change much. One of the most well loved element of creativity in Final Fantasy never worked for Square anyway - Amano. Hopefully this new company will free Uematsu up to do more great stuff like the Black Mages, and allow him to work on countless more projects. |

| The thing is that Uematsu has been little more than a figurehead at the company since, roughly, Final Fantasy VII. And as much as I hate to say it, I would argue that pretty much anything he's done since VII pales in comparison to his earlier work (Particularly FFII and IV). |
