Yup, it's awesome, eh? The red hue is made by light reflecting off of and being filtered by Earth's atmosphere... the sunrise and sunset that are happening on both sides of the Earth. (edited by FreeDOS on 10-27-04 11:00 PM) |

I didn't know about it beforehand. I was outside smoking and I happened to notice it. Not really that impressive or awe inspiring if you ask me. Now the sun exploding, I'd like to see that. (Here comes the part where someone informs me that it wont happen for several million years. Because I so didn't know that. Come on, which one of you is it going to be? You? Or how about you, over there?) |

Well, I was kinda lucky weather wise yesterday. There was no clouds or anything, but since I needed to goto the dentist early today... ; It was shown here, it was just so early in the morning I couldn't be up that late. |

Couldn't see it. Oh well, but I'm fine with it, since I've had my share of harvest moons this year. Now those are amazing to see...especially when the moon is so freaking huge!

Hey, if the sun did explode... I don't think we'd notice it for a few years. Then again, we SHOULD be prepared for the end of the sun when it happens. If we're still alive in a few hundred million years. |

Saw it last night, wasn't too impressive. :/ They never really are and it's lucky if there aren't clouds blocking the view.

We saw it here, and immidiately repented to the gods and pleaded with them to bring the moon back. Only after we performed a virginal sacrifice did it come back. That was a close one.

I thought it was years. Or at least we wouldn't feel the effects for a while due to the amount of time it takes for everything to travel across space.

DS, one light year is 5860000000000 miles, I don't think the sun is that far away from the earth. If it were, wouldn't we all be frozen by now? I think it's more like 7 or 8 light-minutes. And I stayed up to watch it wednesday with my girlfriend, things like that make for cliche, but excellent nonetheless, special occasions. I sure as heck paid for it the next day, though.... only got 4 hours of sleep and I had three test-grade equivalent projects to hand in. |

Maybe I misunderstood minutes for year, the last time I heard of it in school. But yeah, I guess 7 lightminutes look a little more realistic. |
