| Black Sabbath didn't create metal. They just brought out it's full form into the mainstream. They took the early parts of metal, and really just set the mold for it. As much as I love them though, I'm voting Metallica. Master of Puppets is quite possibly the best metal album of all time. Apple, you say your vote goes to Sabbath, but they still have zero votes. | I'd say Black Sabbath was the first heavy metal band. There were other bluesy hard rock groups doing some heavy distortion at the time, but Sabbath took it all the way and created the first metal music. And besides, even if they didn't create it, they're definitely the most influential metal band. I vote for Sabbath, easily. Metallica doesn't even compare. Metallica did some cool stuff, but there's cooler thrash out there anyway, and besides, Sabbath is just like...the raddest metal band ever. |

| Metallica. Simply because they offered me a more enjoyable listening period as a fan. In other words, old Metallica ruled, even though Black Sabbath is a pioneer. Plus 'Fade to Black' will the song playing at my funeral. Wicked cool. |

| This is a hard one ... since I like both equally. But I own more Metallica albums, and they seem to have more of those "awesome songs" than Black Sabbath. So Metallica takes my vote. |
