Yep, it's been 6 days already, I've been following the USF and GSF updates for a while (and getting all the new ones that come out)

Here's the official GSF page with the plugin and all the complete and tagless (upcoming) GSF's available for download, always up to date ... the list is growing fast too, they're already up to 15 complete (but 2 with only one .gsf song) and 26 tagless

Nice, more vg music to add to my NSF's, SPC, and PSF collections.

Any good suggestions? I'm sure all the Megaman games, as always have awesome themes, but I actually don't own a GBA so I don't know about it very much.

Wow. Just...wow.

Seriously...back when my GBA actually worked, I used to play MKSC a lot just so I could listen to the music...which, needless to say, I found quite brain-melting. The remixed SNES music was also good... ...What?

Tags are like the ID tags you'll see in an MP3. They'll tell you the file's name, the game, the author, the length, etc.

So you can get them, but they'll be without info.

Yeah, but you'll usually get filenames like "sma1-00F4.minigsf", titles like "-" and the default length (2:04), not very descriptive if you need to remember which file is what (that file I just mentioned is the game menu music from Mario Advance, by the way)

Get them if you just want to hear the music before the completed set comes out, or if you want to tag it all yourself, but it's best to wait otherwise

I just figured I'd add in that if you change the title display to add "%file%", it'll show the filename, which makes remembering what file it is much, much easier.

...and then add in that my computer can not play GSFs well. The songs lag every 2 seconds

They probably take some effort to rip, but... Look at PSF's compared to GSF's. Notice the difference in file size between a rom and ISO?

Umm.... I think it's the exact same sound engine

There's interpolation on by default though. Something must be wrong with their routines because it distorts a lot of the instruments and really muffles the overall sound a lot. Anyway, Go to the Config page for in_gsf and turn off interpolation... it should sound just like VBA then.

Now if they could just get rid of the horrible grainyness/fuzz that VBA has... it'd be perfect. It's like listening to songs on an old worn out tape deck.

Is it just me...or do certain instruments blare over others unevenly as compared to the GBA as well...or is that part of the interpolation problem? [sets off anyways]

EDIT: That did it.

My ears can't hear the difference between no interpolation and bandlimited, so it can't be that bad

But I just checked in Goldwave, and bandlimited interpolation is like a lowpass (around 8000Hz but it varies depending on the GSF) ... try the other interpolations though, FIR had no visible lowpass effect (then almost none with linear, some more with cubic, bandlimited is the worst)

Well, it have been possible to play GBA music before. It just have been limited to "sappy" based games (forgot the offical name :/), Bouche made it possible to play music outside a game. But it didn't rip it or anything...

I say finally, now i'm gonna listen to some of my favorite tunes. xP

Well, it does sounds diffrent from a real GBA thought. Square waves tends to sounds more than the other instruments for example. Funny how it sounds like a real GBA for everything expect the square waves on some songs. Square waves sounds crisp clear... which the samples aren't, sounds kinda odd.

When you set the interpolation off it still sounds kinda odd for me, but then i'm so used to play it on real GBA with it's inbuilt speakers so... no i'm not playing Mario kart on VBA much.

Bandlimited sounds the closest to a GBA without headphones. :/
