Well, until there's the news and current affairs kinda forum, I guess this stuff still goes in here... A satellite has crashed into some guy's house in China. Article And another Article stating that nothing appears to have gone wrong Nothing went wrong? I'm sure the guy whose house is destroyed isn't so sure of that... |

I hope they are at least going to to pay to the repairs. If that's the case, I would only be pissed initially.... |

It's the Chinese government. If the guy even kicks up a stink, I think they can jail him for 10 years for speaking out against the government. Instead, he just says that he'll be really lucky now cause his house was hit by a satellite. |

I really hope the goverment in China get's overthrown. Thought knowing history goverments usually digs their own grave when they try to hide alot of things from the people in the long run... The goverment just won't take the blame, that's so cowardly. Still it's humerous that he said that in a certain way... still. |

Maybe they hoped the satellite would merge with the man, so they wouldn't have to send satellites up anymore, but instead just have to plug the man into... whatever. ...I need to stop watching horrormovies and shows. and lay off the sugar. But like you said, he'll probably claim to be lucky for having a satellite crash into his house :-/ |

He may had some luck, but I'll not like if a satellite crashes in my house...an apartment actually, cause I'm live in the last floor. |

 Overthrow the Chinese government? Hell, they overthrew one of the best funded puppet regimes ever, the government of Chiang Kai-Shek. I doubt that anyone, other than a nuclear holocaust, could touch that tough puppy. As for the satellite. So. Fucking. Cool. The government will probably move him into another village and give him a new house. Relocation to availability. The governments motto |

Reminds me slightly about "Deception Point", although it was a meteorite and it didn't crash into a house of someone (I read the book so I won't say anything more about that and what is true and what not. No spoiling. Get it, lend it, whatever. Dan Brown writes nice books ) This is just that rare chance to get hit, like to win millions of Dollars playing in a lottery. I read, you have a higher chance to get hit by a lightning bolt than breaking the jackpot |

'The landing technology of our country's satellites is very mature and the precision of the landing point is among the best in the world.' [cracks up] Yea whatever. And this is proof. You try dropping a satellite on a specific target and cope with a how-many-hundred mile drop through an atmosphere. Not really easy. |

Nothing went wrong? What, was it supposed to drop out of the sky and land in the middle of a city? I somehow doubt it. | |||

Hiryuu, what alot of people don't realize, no nations space technology is really safe... Remember Columbia? Don't laugh. I'm a fairly large proponent of space exploration and technology. No nation has a good record. The US, Russia, China, ESA, CSA, ISA, etc. all have relatively bad records with thier technology. The US Space Shuttle is a piece of obsolete junk that is death itself. Russia's Soyez capsule and various other ventures are begining to age, ESA Arian 5 series rockets have a very bad fuel problem, CSA and ISA are still in infantile steps. Right now China has the best chance of surpassing the rest of the world in space technology. They are experimenting and learning from their mistakes. Do not mock their abilities, they are the only ones really attempting to improve, spending money on it, and fighting for soverignty in space as a matter of national pride. America hasn't done that since the 70s. |
