Very nice looking. But, it should expand to whatever width is being used in some way, and how does the window handle overflow?

It's a scrollbar DIV...but it's far from finished...the scrollbar itself will screw up the minute you hit an overflow, it'll appear down and right of the textbox; too much on the dimensions. :\

It shouldn't be too hard to make it stretch if the original picture isn't cut off on the top :-/

It's a whole image...there's no cutting...it's...just an image. One, singular. :\

Yes, one single image. Thats to preserve alpha transparency on the textbox. You could just split it all up and have a non-scrolling layout, and have the text bg a semi-transparent png, like 10x10. But of couse, then you IE users might have a fun time. *hahahahaha*

Oh yeah, and check this out: EEEE. That overflow isn't looking too good. You shouldn't use mass tables for overflow. Just use 2 divs. One to house the background-image, and one to have relative positioning inside that div. It allows for concise html, instead of a tag sea.

I made the layout. From that you can probably infer that I didn't make it so much as I ripped it off. Hiryuu ripoff fad forever \m/

When I tested the scrolling it was looking fine to me. I know the values are strange.. I shrunk them now, so that they dont align that well for me, but they match the dimensions of the text box (342x278). The original is cut off on the top, I'm afraid.

Dylan, I have no idea what any of that is.

I'd just split it up into two images. One with the name, the other with the photo, and then put the name at the top right and the photo floating to the right. Then I could make the box however large I want.

I've made enough scroll layouts to know what I'm talking about, and again, it isn't impossible to make it stretch (since the background is just white), it'll just need the original image on the side, and the textbox will look a bit different to preserve transparancy. (likely a grid of sorts, since you can't have regular transparancy on the board.
So it can be turned into two or more, plural, IF HER HEAD ISN'T CUT OFF IN THE ORGINAL PICTURE.
yes.
Or whatever Jesper said, probably.

The head is cut off in the original.. otherwise I wouldn't bother with scroll layouts at all, I could just make a nice stretchy thing. :\

If you want to give the illusion of alpha transparency, use a grid background. But even then, it will look slightly griddy, which may clash with the fairly smooth scheme. It's just that layout could stretch SO easily, the only reason its a scroller is due to the alpha transparency.

But, if it has to scroll, take out all those tables, and do the div thing, so the scrollbar actually lines up.

Yoshi Dude

And keep in mind scroll layouts need different coding for modern and older browsers, else your box might show up properly in one browser, but not the other.

Woah, that looks quite nice in IE. That's one thing that the W3C should include in their set of standards. That being formatted scrollbars. But of course that's not the important thing; the important thing is that the scrollbar aligns properly in IE. But the ideal layout looks the same in all browsers, and if that just isn't possible, then it should designed for a browser that does comply with the web standards: not IE.

So you can just keep the code as it is, just put a *html before the scrolly stuff. Then redo it with proper dimensions without the *html Of course, that would be annoying with all that tably stuff.
