Dipped into explorer.exe with ResHacker, with no luck. Sooo... YOU answer this for me. You know how, in XP, when you go to change your wallpaper (right click on desktop, "Properties", "Desktop")... you get what's in the wallpaper folder (forget the path offhand) and the contents of "My Pictures"? How can I take "My Pictures" out of there? I've got things set up so I don't need this, nor do I want to. If this is confusing, I'll take a pic for ya. |

You mean when you go to change the background and it lists everything in My Pictures? I think you can change the path for that folder, which would affect everything that uses that.

Why not copy your pictures to the directory where the wallpapers from Windows are, that works.

Because hacking Windows is more fun? I'd rather do that than let MS dictate how they want me to do things... |

um...have you tried changing the My Pictures path to point to an empty directory? or that doesn't work?

I don't want it to be completely unusable, though. Digital camera pics go there. Not wallpaper.

well, the thing is...if you move "My Pictures" to an empty directory and you have your own My Pictures directory then that should do the job. Not unless you want window's convenience of automatically putting digital pictures there or something of the sort. That is why i suggested making windows lookat another directory for my pictures (like C:\WIndows\temp) while leaving your My Documents\My Pictures where it is.

Hrm. Changed it (without logging off and on) and it worked. Changed it back and it's still listing them all. The thing that gets me is that it wasn't doing this before I used it for digital camera pics. Does not appear that I can change the directory I'm using in the camera program, either. |
