So today at school I left my car's lights on after I shut them off. There was an announcement saying a car with a license plate that matched mine had their lights on, and I didn't hear it. So I got out of school seven hours later, only to find my car wouldn't start. Fortunately, a passing teacher gave me a jump, and all is now well. But this begs the question, what do I do to keep myself from doing this again? This is the second time this has happened. My friends say I should just take a big sign that says "REMEMBER: LIGHTS OFF" and stick it on my dashboard or something. Anyone else have a good idea? |

Put something wierd (like a semi-slimey thing) on the car keys. When you think "WTF is this!?!" you will remember why you put it there and turn off the lights.

See, you get this chip implanted in your brain... ...or...you could just have something put into your car. If you leave the lights on, and you open the door to get out, it will shut on you and through a blaring megaphone say "Light is on!", reminding that, the light is on. But, the most practical and money saving way is to just, yeah, put a reminding sign/sticker on your dashboard, or even your steering wheel. |

Wire the light switch to the key, so that the car has to be running for them to be on. Really, I don't get why they're not like that to begin with. Most cars at least have a warning buzzer or something.

HH, can you do that on older cars? Like mine, it's a '93 Mercury Topaz, I might look into that if it's possible. Other than that, the sticky note thing seems like an excellent idea. |
