It will (1) be averagely hard to use and is (b) theoretically capable of importing stuff from all N-SPC (SMAS engine, or just Nintendo ones) games besides to SMW, which has a rather weird derivate of that one. As for converting entirely different formats into N-SPC, not yet.

Yes, he was saying that you can Import SPC's (SNES Music Files) of a certain type,... so you
will only be able to import some SPC's for now (depending on which game they come from [Nintendo-SPC, or N-SPC Format])

Whether you take SPCs or the ROM is just a matter of my neat _OFFSET variable. The certain type is called N-SPC, as I described above. But I doubt I will have this feature ready on the first beta, since many N-SPC games use different layouts (although the format is the same) for their data.

Ok. I was asking about file types like .mid, .wma, etc. Thank you.

Just out of curiousity, will the user be able to enter notes manually? Or can you only modify instruments, etc.? I'd be pretty impressed if you mapped the keyboard to notes, as is done with most trackers.

Anyhow, can't wait for the release. Please, release it soon; I'm eager to try this thing out

he said it was for editing the SPC tracks, not instruments. but the picture does show you can do that, too. If you can edit the tracks, he means the notes, too, ya know. Now Blacky, I am really eager and looking forward to a realease! About how much longer until it is released? I seriously can't wait any longer!

That seriously depends on how fast I can fix the memory management bug.
Waveform import would only be available for the samples. As for MIDI... I dunno. I would lie to you if I said it was impossible, but it is just fucking hard to implement.

Isn't MIDI a little...advanced for Super Nintendo games?

SPC, especially N-SPC, is very alike MOD. And since MOD = MIDI with instruments included... no. Technically there is no problem, besides to the lack of memory.

I see. So you'd have to expand your hack to probably 48Mbits to get it to fit

No, expanding the rom wouldnt have any effect. What blackhole89 meant was that spc information is only, and always a certain size. Around 50kb from what I remember. I think that's right, anyway.

Yep! Thats the size! I wasn't at home so I couldnt check

I believe the size is also what forced developers to create the call loop function to repeat parts of tracks isnt it? Will solar soundtrack be able to create and edit call loops?

...i think they're called call loops lol.

I believe that is what they are called as well. And most musics in games use loops and a intro that is at the beginning of the song, so I believe that it would unless the music would be extremely short...

Um. thing with MIDI is that it's monophonic, meaning more than one note per channel. You would also have to map every drum notes to a drum sample for every game, as well as make sure it converted the notes right for every instrument (they don't all use the same hex values for their notes, you know). It MIGHT be possible...since the MSS engine (I think thats the name at least) originaly came with tools for converting 1 chanel midis that only had note on/off commands (i forget if it later supported volume, and pan...I know pitch wheel was eventualy funked around with). However, since basicly everyyone is just going to take some crap midi from VG music, you won't have just those, you'd have to craft your own midi and tweak it just so. Most people who...well, alot of people who I have in mind wouldn't have the intelect to do such thing (you know, the kind of people who direct others to use ASM to insert ExGFX. please tell me you know what i mean here? )
