This one caught me off guard. If you've played Kingdom Hearts, then you know who Hikaru is. Today, she released her first English album in America. (Under the name "Utada" I'm led to believe.) Of course, she *was* born in America so at least she has good pronounciation - something I can't necessarily say about Ayumi Hamasaki. There seems to be high hopes for her - "Devil Inside" (NOT an INXS cover), her first single, is going to hit #3 on the Billboard dance music charts next week in what would be it's... 9th week, I think. Just thought it was interesting info to pass along since it is a "first" of sorts - of course, if anyone's seen the CD or has purchased it, feel free to share thoughts. |

Can't you technically say she made it with the Rush Hour 2 soundtrack? She did "Blow My Whistle" with Foxy Brown, and that was all in English. EDIT: MY HEAD A SPLODE. She recorded said album... with the drummer for THE MARS VOLTA?! Now THERE'S an improbable pairing for ye. And he worked with His Infernal Majesty (the kids call 'em H.I.M.), Trans Am (and consequently, Fucking Am, their merger with the Fucking Champs) and Royal Trux. Where did THIS gig come from? What's surprising me (after a quick check) is the Amazon rankings. #42 in the States, which isn't shabby at all... and #2 in Canada. The top 10 albums in Canada next week should be very interesting if this keeps up. And yeah, the album seems to be a mix of this and that. I'm trying to look for more neutral stuff, but... you know the fanboys. |

Hopefully, I can find this CD in stores, if not in the usual music stores, than at my local anime store. I have heads of her songs already, but I still want to own this CD. I knew that she was on the Rush Hour II ST several months ago. Pretty good track to boot. PS Does anyone know is she actually wrote "Simple and Clean" or was it prewritten for her? It *should* be in most music stores, Anya. At least that's what I managed to dig up info-wise... might be in a different section depending where you go though. After a quick search, I believe Hikaru wrote Hikari, which was of course the Japanese version of Simple and Clean. Dunno if she handled the translation or not. She writes a lot of her own material. |

There's a reason people call the band HIM, drjay. ... 'Cos that's the band's name. ;P Sure, it stands for His Infernal Majesty, but you know, AFI stands for A Fire Inside but the band's still called AFI. |

..... You lost me at the "sings in the shower" bit, never mind WHAT he's singing. Bella: Hikaru should be credited for it somewhere in the Kingdom Hearts instruction manual/credits. |

Is the song in the English version of Kingdom Hearts in English, or is it the original? |
