Well, this time around Microsoft claims their system will be out next Christmas season. They've come too the conclusion that the most powerful system does not always lead too success. Look at any kind of chart, and you will see PS2 dominates the sales by almost 70% compared to GCN and Xbox.

PS3? Could be the best this time around. I'm honestly not that big of a fan for the PS2, and it's main use is playing older PS1 games on it ... but with the current technology Sony is talking about, their system does really seem like it could be the best. So far they're scheduled to release their system last.

Nintendo? Eh. I won't lie. I'm a big time Nintendo fan, and will always follow and praise them no matter what they do, even when they make mistakes as to using cartridges for their N64 ... switch to mini-discs for some reason ... and focus on something, I think, stupid as connectivity between the GBA and GCN. I don't like what Nintendo's been doing, and where they're going, even though I still think they make incredible games. SSBM, Metroid Prime, and a few others ... Zelda: WW, didn't make me happy, but the next Zelda game is going to make me wet my pants for sure. They lost Rare, but Retrogames quickly replaced them, and I think it's a great replacement, even though they've done one game ... MP was amazing, and MP2 is looking incredible. I also wasn't too impressed with Mario Sunshine, as I lost interest on the 2nd level. Hopefully Nintendo wll go back to their old roots, and make good games ... and a lot. Snes owned our faces, so I'm hoping the Revolution could possibly do so too.

Well, which are you most excited about?

(PS The Phantom, which is scheduled to hit stores packaged with Duke Nukem: Forever, doesn't count, I know, I'm very sorry for this inconvenience )

Regionally, X-Box2 is going to sell amazingly well in Canada and the US. It has established a foothold as a good quality system that offers game for the mainstream and the hardcore fans.

Now, the PS3 all depends on the starting line up. If it doesn't get totally sweet exclusives, it is going to flounder and get ebola. It is the turning point right here people.

Nintendo is coming back in Japan. I think it will usurp the throne of the PS3. But it is going to be a bitter fight to the death between those companies. The market in Japan is shrinking and the pivot point for the next race is going to be China. He who taps that ass gets the most profit.

Frankly, Nintendo has the most exposure over there. But, since Microsoft has more money than it needs, if it can make lots of Chinese oriented content and adjust the system to the Chinese tastes, it will probably take over in sheer numbers.

what gives you that idea? The Cell chip is going to be difficult to work with. The architecture of the system is one that insists upon multi-tasking with ALL of your home entertainment features. I'm not sure how far Sony is going to go out of the way to make development for the system easy. They didn't do a good job with the PS2, it was hard to access all fo the parts you needed to make a "high-end" game according to lots of people.

Given the predecessor's hold...unless Xenon or Rev actually get a stronghold on gamers views...PS3 for sure.

Again, it is all about market disparity. The Xenon is going to perform better in North America and Europe than it will in Asia. The PS3, like the PSP is probably going to have lots of problems with getting info out. Nintendo is going to rise like a pheonix in Japan and going to strengthen its hold on Chinese markets.

Well, we'll see...but you've got to realize that the majority of the PS2 fanboys/girls will be buying the PS3 no-questions-asked. Likewise for any console really, if they have the cash.

I think the PS3 *should* be the frontrunner in the next race... but it could be close. E3's going to paint an interesting picture to say the least.

I think Nintendo definitely has to look into some sort of online function though - the DS is definitely their first look at it via wi-fi, and even if the system comes out with a ton of great games and features... some gamers might pass it up because it doesn't have online functions. Then again, since we're talking about Nintendo, they won't put in online unless they can figure out a revolutionary way to do it.

I've been one to say Nintendo cares more about gamers than other companies, and that they take the time and effort to make sure their first party titles please. With the Nintendo Revolution, I believe they will follow the time-honored tradition of making kickass first party titles, but at the same time doing something so alienating (IE. N64 cartridges, Minidiscs/no online play...) to the third party crowd that they'll have to thrive on Mario, Zelda, and Metroid titles alone.

This may not be the case, but regardless of what happens, I'm looking forward to whatever new tricks Nintendo has up their sleeve (as they usually do).

I'll probably go for the PS3. *Sony wins again*..

I'm not encouring Microstuff at all, these money grabbers won't have my cash. Even if they develop the best graphics ever, I can't stand them at all..

Nintendo? Well I hope Nintendo will get more unique games then the ones they survived with up to now (Like remakes and follow ups.. to their classic games..) In other words, more diversity.. I only bought the gamecube for like 10 games.. (Resident Evils, Zeldas, Metroid Prime and a few others..)

Therefore I hope that they

If PS3 is as expensive as PS2 when it was releaed, then it's maybe won't sell that much.

The price is a big matter in the console war, just ask Microsoft about their x-box.

From what I have heard the PS3 will cost like $400-500 and that is way to expensive. I am just about to get the PS2 (at christmas) and just so I can play FF11 all the other games are a waste of my time. (I would play it on computer, but my brother is moving ;_ I think (oppinion) that the GC did have the best games (SSBM just owned all) and as long as they finally make some 3rd party game companies that like them we could get more games like Tales of Symphonia, and Nintendo would win.

As for the new Xbox I will still say that there are very few true gamers out there that own one. Most of the games come out on computer anyways so even if there is a game I like I could just get it on something that I can trust.

PS3. The PS2 was released earlier than its rivals, and I think Sony have learnt a lot since then about making a more approachable, all-encompassing console. I don't think it will be a question of graphics power- they will all have strong graphics and the leap from 4th gen tp 5th gen won't be as big as 3rd to 4th- but more the ability to allow you to customise your game to a greater extent, to allow gamesplaying with more and more people and to have a game that is very large in depth. I think the PS3 will be best suited to this- Xenon will be strong, as will the NR, but I just have a gut feeling the PS3 will be king.

I'm not sure, but (and I never thought I'd hear myself say this) I'm probably not getting Nintendo's system. The games have seemingly been going gradually downhill since the SNES. Meanwhile, the other systems have been getting better games over time... although, since I never get systems until 6-12 months after their release at least, I'll have plenty of time to look over the games on each.

I'm just hoping Nintendo can make somewhat of a come back from the not-so-good last two systems N64 and currently, the GC.

No offense.

I think final launch dates could play a crucial role. The PS2 gained an immense foothold by coming out a year earlier, although I'm not sure how, because it's lineup sucked a lot.

Im a gamer who loves games...so Im looking forward to all 3 of them. I cant wait for this next batch. I always get so excited

Ive already seen what the XBox-2 is capable of and it looks great. Ive also seen that game Dark Sektor which should run on a PS3 and it looks brilliant...as for the Revolution little is known other than that its gonna be "revolutionary" and I remember a certain game called Mario 128 that was supposidly going to be revolutionary..where is it? I want to like Nintendo the way I used to in the N64 days but thats just getting harder and harder to do with thier stupid decisions.

Hopefully the DS will bring them back up and then the Revolution will launch them back to the top of the pack.

Bullshit.

Remember back when the PS2 came out? How many people tried to import it from Japan and paid hundreds of dollars just to get a hold of it? People that have the means will buy, you can't deny that.
