The XD1 uses Cray RapidArray Interconnect technology, based on HyperTransport, for high bandwidth and low latency communications between processors and chassises. The XD1 also has a handful of other technologies aimed at the HPC market, including Xilinx FPGAs, communications accelerators, etc."

Intended to compete with the trendy sweet concotions popular on the club scenes (such as Smirnoff Ice), it will contain caffeine, guarana, and ginseng." Not sure how I feel about ginseng in my brew, so I'll have to study this with a few cases.

Poor planning, poor execution and poor leadership are more likely to blame than bad code when it comes to systems that fail. "

South Korea claims that the north has a five-year university program for hacker training and cites recent attacks on government computer systems. The South Korean defense ministry claimed in the report that 'North Korea's intelligence warfare capability is estimated to have reached the level of advanced countries,' and that the caliber of the North's hackers is high. So far it appears that these specific attacks are based in China, although it is not clear if North Korea is using Chinese networks or if China is involved."

Book Reviews

Don't choose your books in a mental vacuum -- take advantage of reader-submitted
book reviews (and linked discussions)
of science fiction, science, programming and other books. For instance:

  • Blaine Hilton's review of href="//books.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/04/23/1427228&mode=nested&tid=137&tid=159&tid=186">Hardware

  • Tony Williams' review of href="//books.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/04/22/157218&mode=nested&tid=107&tid=185&tid=187&tid=190">Running

    intermediate-or-better Mac OS X users.

  • John Miles' review of href="//books.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/04/14/0137208&mode=nested&tid=127&tid=186&tid=188&tid=192">Twisty

the literati... and the rest of us."

Submitting your own review for consideration is easy. Read Slashdot's href="//slashdot.org/book.review.guidelines.shtml">book review
guidelines carefully, and then use the href="//slashdot.org/submit.pl">web submission form.
