We have picked the winner of the contest and Tom will be announcing the winner's name as soon as he has a chance. He has been having trouble with his Internet connection this week.
The site will be down for a short moment this afternoon - most likely between 11:15-11:30 EST for some maintenance work.
In Alien Hominid news: This month AH has been covered by G4-TechTV, Wired, Game Informer, and the Official Nintendo UK magazine among many others! I'll have to post pictures and possibly video footage!
We are VERY CLOSE to launching the official AH store, which will accept credit cards and international orders. I'll let everyone know when it's ready!
Looks like the front page news has been pretty slow lately so I'll just mention some things. If you email me for help, INCLUDE YOUR USERNAME!!! I'm tired of going back and forth with idiots who can't provide me with the information required to assist them. Before you send me your email take a minute to read over it and ask yourself "Now, when Wade gets this will he have enough information to be able to help me?"
Also be sure to put "Newgrounds Help" in your subject or I'll never get it. I state this on the CONTACT page. I get way to much spam to dig through and find all the legit emails, so I only see emails from people who actually FOLLOW DIRECTIONS.
Also don't forget about the NG PRIZE GIVEAWAY we hold every month! You could win yourself a video game system or games, just for creating a free NG account and depositing your experience points at least once a month, but depositing everyday will increase your chances as you can enter once per day!
Don't forget to order some NG TANK LOGO STICKERS as well! They are only $1 for FIVE high quality 4x4 inch, weather proof and UV protected stickers! Plus return envelope and return postage, see the STICKER page for more details.
My latest endeavor using the Animal Babies characters is a 36-part daily comic strip series, viewable over at umop.com. It's called "Friendly Animal Babies" because the word 'Retarded' ain't gonna fly if I'm gonna try and get carried by any newspaper syndicates.
Speaking of that, it would help me greatly if you could sign (and spread the word about) an ONLINE PETITION I started up today, advocating the publication of the series. I would love to be able to show the syndicate fatcats a nice, plump list with thousands of names. Help me get into the funny papers!
In other news my shattered shin is looking better, at least on the outside. The ugly metal bars aren't going anywhere for a few more months, but at least the muscle graft has lost all its scabs, and the new skin is healthy enough for you to lick it if you want.
How has the site been running for everyone these past few days? I am especially interested in hearing from modem users in particular, because I think they were having more problems before.
We haven't installed the load balancer and additional servers yet. They probably won't make a noticeable difference, but they will make the site more stable for the future.
I've been on the go a lot this week, so let me know if I am missing anything we need to fix.
We filmed an interview with G4TechTV which just might be airing TONIGHT on the show PULSE! I believe it runs at 7pm and 10pm. I'm not sure if this is the episode that will feature Alien Hominid, but users had mentioned seeing commercials for it. If you have a TiVo, set it to record! They came to my house and took a tour.
18:51:Aeon Genesis, otherwise known as that translating legend known as Gideon Zhi, has released a full translation of Ball Bullet Gun, a game for the SNES/Super Famicom systems.
If there are bugs in it, call an exterminator. Just kidding.
2:29: I'm running a nifty, little contest. Here's the info:
A small yet interesting scene-style demo is being created by SuperFighter.com in order to promote some of our upcoming releases. We need someone to provide the music for this interesting work, and that person could be you! Similar to ZD's Mario Paint compo of 2001, those who wish to enter must provide a song composed with a console-based music creation program. However this time the program is Fun'N Games for the Sega Genesis!
3. Choose one or more songs from this set of songs to use as your entry.
4. Enter the song(s) of your choice into the Fun'N Games composer. Save each individual entry as a DGEN save state. Send save states (compress them first!!!) directly to me via e-mail.
The winner will be chosen based on how nicely their rendition of the chosen song sounds. The song will be logged to GYM format using the DGEN emulator and used in our upcoming Super Fighter demo for the Sega Genesis. The winner will be credited for their good deed in the demo, as well as on the Super Fighter website.
21:32: Spiros Ioannou has released a new version of SMFE (Simple Mame FrontEnd) after over two years of inactivity. There doesn't appear to be a list of what's new, but casual inspection reveals small changes in the menus and ROM description column headers. It also now allows you to read nplayers.ini.
20:58: To go along with the release of both the new Emulation Enhancer and the PC version KiGB, there is a new Mac version of KiGB. As with the one released for PC, this adds support for the Barcode Boy.
We can't host this file, but you can get it from Richard Bannister's homepage, linked from our GameBoy Emulators for Macintosh page.
20:52: A few small tweaks have been made to Richard Bannister's Emulation Enhancer, a utility that improves the performance of various Mac-based emulators. The changes are as follows:
Removed "Cancel" button from Preferences
Quick Screenshot now adds a three digit number to file names
Added the ability to record audio
We can't offer it for download, but you can get it at the author's homepage linked above. We keep track of updates to this utility on our General Utilities page.
