I thought I heard of a special hookup where you will play different music while playing games. Like you can cue up different spc's while playing a game. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Actually inserting different songs in a game is very hard to impossible, most people just mute the emulator and have winamp on in the background.

Well, I wasnt talking about inserting music permanently. I thought there might of been something where a certain spc is qued up when a games spc starts. I thought I heard someone mention one b4 but I ain't certain.

I don't think anything like that exists but if you find it post it here because if it exists, I want it.

There was a thread about this in the SMW forum a long time ago (might have been on the old board) where someone had an idea about having SMW hacks with mp3 soundtracks using a special modification of Zsnes that would play certain mp3s in winamp depending on the data given in the music library or something like that. It never became more than an awesome idea though...

I heard this as well in the SMW fourm. So it defentally wasn't on the old board, which means the post is still there (unless the thread was deleted). If only there was a search option to search for a string of text...

I think it may have been Orynider (sorry if I spelt that wrong) who said this. Something to do with Zsnes, and making it load up a different SPC or other sound format. But I would think that it would just play for the whole game seeing as zsnes would need to know when and where to load mulitipul songs which would be impossible.

That's where the reading from the sound library thingy comes in, but it would only work with a specific game, making an emulator that will replace the music for all of the games out there is virtually impossible

The idea is that you tell the emulator how to tell when the game is changing tracks, and the emu tells Winamp to do the same. However, you'd need to know how to tell with each game.

I say it's possible, as long you use something that won't interupt the emulation.

Letting some ASM code write a code in some unused RAM part. Then the Emulator looks in that part, a certain number plays certain music. (if it's 1B then it's plays 1B.Mp3 or something )

There's a MAME version that does that. Plays your own files instead of the game's usual BGM.

In fact, normal MAME does it for games with weird sound hardware: play waves as needed.

And then there's the Highscore system, saving whole chunks of memory that have been recorded as being the hiscore table to file...

It IS possible
