No, there aren't any "free" Delphi compilers. I managed to get my copy off a magazine CD about a year or so ago. There is FreePascal, which is similar, but lacks the entire VCL library, so you have to do GUIs the fun (hard) way.

not quite, there is a GUI editor for free Pascal....http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/

here is what the site says it is
"Lazarus is a project that aims to develop a Delphi clone using the Free Pascal Compiler. This projects includes a rapid development IDE based on its own class library the LCL which adaptes to GTK+ on Linux and Win32."

so its not quite Delphi, but its close.

heres a screen from the site Screen here

http://www.borland.com/products/downloads/download_delphi.html#

I haven't tried it but I read that you can download the trial and register with a personal key (official, Borland gives these).

Good for transition from other languages.

The problem with that is, GTK+ sucks under Windows. And you either need to have the GTK+ runtime installed on your system, or have it built into the executable. Which bulks it up even more than a normal Delphi executable.

But, it is better than nothing.
