What is it? 2 pts Riddle number eight:  You were given two bottles of pills, one labeled "Bottle A" and one labeled "Bottle B". The pills in these bottles are identical, except that if you take the wrong amount of either one you will die. You must take one of each pill each day, and no extra, or you will die. You already have a pill from bottle A in your hand, but when you try to get a pill from bottle B, two B pills spill out into your hand with the A pill and you lose track of which pills are which. You can't just throw the three pills away and get new ones because you have to take every last one eventually. You can't afford to get more. | I've got #8! OK, how about this? You have to take one of each pill each day. Despite having dropped two B pills in your hand and one A (and thus not being able to put them back in their bottles), the sum total of all the A pills you have is still the same as the number of B pills. And you have to take them in equal proportion, right? So what you do is take all the pills in the bottles (let's say this number is X), plus the three pills in your hand, and mix them in a solution or crush them into powder, mixing sufficiently to ensure an even distribution. Remember, these pills are of identical weight, density, etc., so there's no danger of them separating. Once they're dissolved (if you choose that option), drink 2/X of the solution every day, or if you're crushing and mixing them, take 2/X of the powder you've got. Ingenious, or will I end up dead if I try this? |

NSNick and Heian get four points apiece. Everyone else... you can figure it out yourselves.  This puts Heian way out in front, and NSNick in second place. As for number eight, Heian, your answer wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but it made great sense and was very well explained. The answer I was originally looking for was that you could simply take another pill out of the A bottle, so you would have two of each in your hand, and then break each one in half -- taking half of each separate one. Then you just save all the other halves for the next day. I realized from the beginning that it wasn't stated that the pills were breakable tablets, but I felt like that would just make it too easy. Crushing the pills into powder and mixing them in water works fine as well. Riddle number eleven was solved by NSNick! +4 pts Riddle number eight was solved by Heian-794! +4 pts I'm increasing riddle seven's value from 2 to 3. | #12: the horse and bag are on opposite sides of the pole. the horse is 15 feet away from the pole, and the bag is 10 feet on the other side of the pole, but the horse can go to the other side to get it still being in the rope's range.
