Very interesting downloads, however I use Opera, which I find to be, although banner-ads abound, much more simple and far superior to FireFox. The irony of the former statement is that along with Opera, I have FireFox as a back-up. Anyway, it is nice of you to post about the update, and I appreciate the download as well. |

So, downloading it, backing up my bookmarks.html, uninstalling FF 0.9.3c German and installing the new version of that precious browser. Hope my extensions will work with this relase as well - it was stated on the official extension page, they should |

Originally posted by Surlent I didn't even need to unistall 0.9x. Not because I wanted to, though. The installing was finished and I thought about it. And this version keeps your old preferences. |

Downloaded and installed the newer version Firefox this earlier today, pretty nice. I notice that downloads works little better now, but then I had the version which had some problems with the downloading. I just noticed, they added help. Which is nice for new users. I have been using Firefox since it was Firebird, version 0.7. and i'm not going to change in the near future. I hadn't tried thunderbird so much thought. |

Hehe, now even a small manager for handling install scripts and such pops up; even Mozilla's update page got blocked the first time; nice Now I only need to get again my favourite Noia eXtreme 2.0 theme, the other extensions and I'm feeling familiar again; especially using the download sort and download statusbar extensions |

I'm using the new version of Firefox at work, and I'm yet to download the new versions of Firefox and Thunderbird on my laptop. Also, they are trying to reach 1,000,000 downloads in 10 days, guys I dunno if they can do it, their servers are pretty hammered, but.... I'd like to see them reach it |

you should always uninstall Firefox and Thunderbird before installing the new version they have that plastered all over their site |

Not Firefox actually... If you check the release notes there's no mention about uninstalling. Thunderbird STILL requires an uninstall (or just rename the directory before installing into the new one then delete it) but Firefox doesn't require it for some reason anymore. Seems to have been OK since after 0.9.

Well, for those of you using IE, and considering a move, here are (what I percieve to be) the biggest benefits: * LESS SPYWARE: Firefox/Mozilla don't use the ActiveX technology, which is the technology in Internet Explorer that most spyware/adware uses to get onto your computer. Simply not having ActiveX means you don't get as much spyware! * SECURITY FEATURES: As well as having no ActiveX features, Firefox has additional security features, including Cookie blocking, to further protect you against spyware and other nasties. * POP UP BLOCKING: All Mozilla programs have Pop Up Blocking on by default * TABBED BROWSING: Instead of opening new windows for links, you can open things in Tabs. One advantage of Tabs is that they load in the background while you continue reading the page you are on -- so when you are ready to read the page you have opened in a Tab, it is already loaded * CUSTOMISABLE: With extensions, Firefox is as customisable as you like. There are additional security extensions that can block out banner advertising, for example, or others that customise the way your menus look. There are tons of other features, but these are the ones that I find the most useful. Particularly the spyware killing ones. I don't like having ads and other nasties shoved in my face every time I go to a website. Security's the biggest advantage of Firefox IMHO. Security alone makes the download of Firefox well worth it. Then you get other spiffy features as well, like Find-As-You-Type! WEEE I love my Firefox. |

I dropped IE like a motherfucker after I fell in love with Firefox. It has all the trimmings I need, and no pop ups.

Yeah, Firefox rules and all but.... There's some pages that just do not want to display right in FF yet display just fine in IE. That, and some fonts colors are messed up. Like, it will be black when it's suppose to be red. And it's hell on a black background. But other than that, perfect. |
