Tired of the 18 rabbit variations or the crappy San D'oria Music? Well, i have a solution to your problem. if you run the pc version and would like to change the music or 3D model of a certian person/object, then i can tell you how. This does not interfere with Square-Enix's rules. Doing this will not get you into any trouble, or void any warranty you might have. Music To change the music, you must have a sample of music from somewhere, that is playable in Winamp. If you have a videogame file, be sure you have the appropriate plug-in for winamp. All of your VG Music files and Plugins can be found at Zophar's Domain. To do all of this, you must convert from SPC>WAV>BGW. SPC bieng whatever music file extension you have. Winamp will convert anyting it can play to .wav, but be sure you have enough space because the whole EB soundtrack takes up 1.8 gigs on my system. Now you have what you need, I can begin telling you how to convert the files. go into the Preferences in WinAmp, and click on Options. You will see a window with your plugins. (if not, browse to the bottom of the list and you should see it.) Now, click on output. You should see the Nullsoft Disc Writer. Highlight it and click configure. Set the Output Directory to something you can remember, like on the desktop in a .wav labeled folder. On the bottom, you should see an drop-down menu option called Output File Mode. Change that to Force WAV file. When you got that done, close out of that and go to File>Play Folder. browse to the folder you have your media in and click on OK. When you hit play (if it doesnt automatically start) it will begin outputting your files to the output folder you specified. You will not hear any music. When this is done, change the Nullsoft Disc Writer Plugin back to its original settings. (no need to worry about the output folder. If you have more music to convert, just do the process over again.) Now you have WAV files. What to do with those you ask? You need something called a WAV to BGW Converter. (the reason this is, if you just rename the file to BGW it will not repeat. This program is japanese but it will properly convert it for you.) Dont worry, I will tell you how to use this. its very easy. Open XiMC and you will see it is clearly labeled WAV>BGW and BGW>WAV. You will also see a list of places to the right side of the program. To convert WAV to BGW, pick a place you want to replace the music with to the right of the program, in that list. (its english names dont worry) Once you have picked a place, click on the only button in "WAV>BGW" area and browse to the file you want to convert. once you have clicked on it and opened it, it has already converted it for you. You will have the BGW file renamed to musicxxx.BGW where xxx corresponds to the 3 digit number of the area in FFXI. (I changed Bastok's Music to the Booster Tower Higher Floors from SMRPG) For Bastok, the file name is music152.BGW. The BGW file that was just converted is in the same folder that you had your unconverted WAV's in. Once you have all the areas music converted, then browse to C:/Program Files/PlayOnline/SquareEnix/FINAL FANTASY XI/sound/win/music/data. you will find the music files there. Just copy and paste them (your converted files) in there. (you might want to copy all of the original files in there to a folder for backing up, just in case) Once you have that done, you can begin playing! Your customized music will be playing whenever you enter the area you changed the music. Here is a list of the musicxxx.BGW files and what music this is used in. music101.bgw: Battle: In overworld, solo music102.bgw: Battle: In dungeon, in party music103.bgw: Battle: In overworld, in party music104.bgw: Ghelsba music105.bgw: Mhaura music106.bgw: Ship music107.bgw: San D'Oria music108.bgw: Title Screen music109.bgw: Ronfaure music110.bgw: Jeuno music111.bgw: Game Over music112.bgw: Selbina music113.bgw: Sarutabaruta music114.bgw: Batallia Downs music115.bgw: Battle: In dungeon, solo music116.bgw: Gustaberg music117.bgw: Ru'Lude Gardens music118.bgw: Rolanberry Fields music119.bgw: Battle: Final Boss music120.bgw: Nation Selection Screen music121.bgw: Approching Final Boss music122.bgw: Delkfutt's (Used in cut scenes) music123.bgw: Hopelessness (Used in cut scenes) music124.bgw: Recollection (Used in cut scenes) music125.bgw: Battle: Boss music126.bgw: Mog House music127.bgw: Anxiety (Used in cut scenes) music128.bgw: Airship music130.bgw: Tarutaru Female Creation music131.bgw: Elvaan Female Creation music132.bgw: Elvaan Male Creation music133.bgw: Hume Male Creation music134.bgw: Yuhtunga Jungle music135.bgw: Kazham music151.bgw: Windurst music152.bgw: Bastok music153.bgw: Crystal Prelude music154.bgw: Metalworks music155.bgw: Castle Zvahl music156.bgw: Chateau d'Oraguille music157.bgw: Fury (Used in cut scenes) music158.bgw: Sauromugue Champaign music159.bgw: Sorrow (Used in cut scenes) music160.bgw: Repression (Used in cut scenes) music161.bgw: Despair (Used in cut scenes) music162.bgw: Heavens Tower music163.bgw: Sometime Somewhere (Used in cut scenes) music164.bgw: Xarcabard music165.bgw: Galka Creation music166.bgw: Mithra Creation music167.bgw: Tarutaru Male Creation music168.bgw: Hume Female Creation music169.bgw: Regeneracy (Used in cut scenes) music170.bgw: Buccaneers (Used in cut scenes) music171.bgw: Altepa Desert music181.bgw: Chocobo (Short version) music190.bgw: The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah music191.bgw: Battle: Rise of Zilart, In overworld music192.bgw: Battle: Rise of Zilart, In dungeon music193.bgw: Battle: Rise of Zilart, Boss music194.bgw: Raogrimm's Theme (Used in cut scenes) music195.bgw: Belief (Used in cut scenes) music196.bgw: Fighters of the Crystal (Used in cut scenes) music197.bgw: Tu'Lia Restoration (Used in cut scenes) music198.bgw: Eald'narche (Final Dungeon) music199.bgw: Grav'iton music200.bgw: Kam'lanaut's Theme (Used in cut scenes) music201.bgw: Ending music202.bgw: Quest 1 (Used in cut scenes) music203.bgw: Quest 2 (Used in cut scenes) music204.bgw: Quest 3 (Used in cut scenes) music205.bgw: Quest Completion (Used in cut scenes) music206.bgw: Yve'noile's Theme (Used in cut scenes) music207.bgw: Ve'Lugannon Palace music208.bgw: Rabao music209.bgw: Norg music210.bgw: Tu'Lia music211.bgw: Ro'Maeve music212.bgw: Chocobo music213.bgw: Hall of the Gods music214.bgw: Wedding Now for the 3D Model Swapping. (Taking a break, that was a long type) EDIT: Ok, starting again... Ok, the 3D Model Swapping isn't as long as the music hacking one was, Its much simpler. Its just a matter of renaming files. Open up the Game Directory: C:/Program Files/PlayOnline/SquareEnix/FINAL FANTASY XI/ by default. Make sure you back the files. Very interesting, if I happen to buy Final Fantasy XI in the future I will be sure to use it, as from what I hear, the music isn't as good as it should have been. Also, to me, music either makes or breaks the game, I don't want to play a game that doesn't have good music in it. | |||
