I'm fully aware of how Superbit DVDs have nothing but the movie unless a second disc comes with it. There's a 3-disc set for like $30... I don't like to spend so much on a movie unless I love it. And even a lot of the movies I love that I own, I haven't yet gotten to watching the extras. Nifty stuff a lot of the time...but the movie's what I care about most. I really don't wanna pay big money for extras of a movie I might not even like. :p

The The is beyond excellent. There are 2 or 3 albums that I like more than Mind Bomb, but it's a good album nonetheless. "Armageddon Days (Are Here Again)" is such a stellar song, even though I'm not in the least bit thrilled by the lyrics.

CD: Full on the Mouth - People Mover (used for 50 cents, just wanted it for one of the songs that was on the Road Rash soundtrack way back on the PS1 that has been stuck in my head for YEARS and won't get out) DVD: 12 Monkeys Special Edition The Meaning of Life Special Edition Both of those for just over 20 dollars is not bad brand new. Thanks, Best Buy! Don't usually buy CDs that much, but my DVD collection continues to blossom and is now at about 60, even though that's a guess. Need to stop buying them. EDIT: Just noticed the Miss Machine mention above me and wanted to get out there that Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants is a wonderful song, but for whatever reason I haven't gotten around to hearing the rest of the album. Worth it? (edited by DoTheEvolution on 08-08-05 07:36 AM) |

I heard that 12 Monkeys has a Chemlab poster in the background in one scene... This intrigues me. Never seen the movie. Evolution, Miss Machine is definitely worth it. Fantastic album. "Setting Fire to Sleeping Giants" is the best song on it, IMO, but the rest is very good as well. 40 minutes of bliss. (edited by Abnormal Freak on 08-08-05 04:30 PM) |

I love 'Highway Robbery' too. And Unretrofied is a pretty amazing song, seeing how unique it is compared to the other DEP tracks.

I finally got a copy of "The downward spiral" by NIN and I got another copy of Attak by KMFDM because the last one was stolen. That said, Downward Spiral has aged poorly It just isn't all that it was when it came out, and it doesn't bring back those fond memories I used to have of the album. At least it was 5 bucks. Attak, despite what Abnormal Freak says because he sucks at KMFDM, is a great album. The songs Save Me, Rise, Sturm und Drang, Super Hero, Dirty, Urban Monkey Warfare...Hell, the entire album, are freeeeeeeeeeeakin' sweet. He's just being a snob when he talks about the older albums being better |

Pfffft. :p The newer albums are just crap to my ears. They're the sort of albums that are fun, but nothing else, and usually the fun factor of those albums wears out over time and repeated listenings. That and the fun isn't as high as some of the older albums, and they don't have the great songs to go with the fun. But I only like a few KMFDM albums... Their earliest ones are neat, but I don't listen to them much. The only ones I really love are NIHIL, XTORT, and Symbols. Anyhoo...I think NIN's TDS has aged very well. It's still my favorite album, the songwriting and production still kick ass. I love it. |

Schwag from Otakon... Maho Tsukai Tai (Magic User's Club) DVD set - Rando showed me this on VHS a few years back and I really liked it. The club consists of two girls, a wannabe ladies' man who is always after them, and a super flaming guy who wants the ladies' man. They get into silly adventures and hilarity ensues. God of Cookery - a silly movie made by the same folks who brought us Shaolin Soccer. It's a campy martial arts-ish flick about, well, a cook, and it has Engrish subtitles for extra unintentional amusement. Katamari Damacy OST - I downloaded this a while back, but I wanted the actual CD. And now I have it. I can't wait for the We Love Katamari OST to be released. DDR Party Mix (or something along those lines) - an evidently dancy arrangement of songs from a bunch of different DDR games. I love continuous DDR mixes and this one seemed like a good way to revisit old favorites while enjoying fresher music as well. And some more that I picked up today just because... Jacob's Ladder - After hearing that this movie was an inspiration for the Silent Hill series, I just had to watch it...and I loved it and wanted a copy for myself. It's a fantastic psychological horror film that, in a sense, explains the freaky crap that happens throughout, but even if you know what happens at the very end before you watch the movie (I did - yay unmarked spoilers on GameFAQs), it's still quite entertaining and creepy to see the main character try to unravel what is going on. |
