It would appear that, unfortunately for me, QuickBasic Extended (yep, still DOS) refuses to work properly on XP.

This is odd, because it acts like shift is constantly held (for example, up or down/left or right will highlight instead of just moving)

It's odd because it didn't do this on a different computer with XP.

Yatta! try that if your really desperate. It's slower than using Win XP own DOS thought..

And oh, are you using cmd or command? Belive it or not, but Win XP have two commands prompts. One support long file names (cmd) while the other don't (command, thought it do show up long names with commands such as dir).

If using whatever that program is requires installation, that's the end of any attempts using it since I can't install things (User account. (#%&ing POS...)

I just loaded it using both CMD and COMMAND, neither worked (same thing).

I can still write programs, considering I make absolutely no mistakes

Strange... I never encountered this problem. I have QBX on my XP computer.

Have you tried running it via other command prompts? For instance, I primarily use Cygwin instead of DOS prompt.

Cygwin runs on any DOS-compatible shell, usually it's command or cmd.... so that won't work.

DOSBox does, I just ran QuickBasic 7.1 in it

I ran QB on my XP computer, and I don't have that problem at all.

Did you try tapping shift, or holding it down?

Your shift key isn't stuck in reality, probably.
