Ok, at least that bug is gone. It just got annoying when I did it. It is a nice editor. I can't wait when you perfect everything else in it (map editing and such). Plus at least we see a whole lot of progress in this editor. |

This is what i got when trying to save to my US rom that has not been modified at all. I had just tried to add a few 4-byte objects to the existing world 1-1... EDIT: when I was in 200% zom this happened, but i went back to 100% and it saved. (edited by KP9000 on 09-24-04 04:39 PM) |

good job mate. Being able to edit the locks on the world map is one thing I havent seen in any other SMB3 editor before, if you can add that that will be cool |

I would just like to say, though I don't hack SMB3, this is a nice editor. Every now and then I see an editor that just screams 'proffesional'. This is one of those editors. Not because of the features or anything like that, but because it's so well done, and polished that I immediately think "This guy should be programming for a living, this program is solid." Polish and proffesionalism count for alot, and for me, it's more important than the game the program is editing, or it's features. I'm impressed with the program itself. The obligitory 'Good Job' and I look forward to all further releases of this and any other of your projects. |

Error with the editor. Scroll down in the editor and then maximizing makes the scoll bar inactive and doesn't want to show some of the level... to fix is simply restoring the size of the window... but can get real annoying....

OMG, the madExcept component is seriously cool. The newest update uses it, so if you get a crash, just click on "Send bug report" :o) cpubasic13: Fixed :o) KP9000, I couldn't replicate the crash and have not had any crashes while saving. Are you sure you were using the latest build? jonwil, lock editing will be there in the future. Changelog: 2004-09-25 - Uses madExcept for more informative error descriptions - Fixed initialization from World Map editing to level editing 2004-09-24 - M3L level file load/save support 2004-09-23 - Map screen pointers can be moved - Fixed a few objects (blue poles, bridges, ...) - More Object definition editor improvements - Object bytedata label shows level size; infotext panel shows offsets when hovered with mouse |

Well, maybe it was just my Windows screwing up... I had some 4-byte objects over some 3-bytes... bit i think it saved that anyways after i zoomed back normal. Ill try and replicate the error message using your new build. I was using the one before the latest one.

I have to agree. This editor is by far better than M3I or Discombobulator even in its Alpha form. I know you spent a lot of work on this, and its greatly appreciated. But for some reason, I feel uncomfortable with the GUI because of my addiction to Lunar Magic. Maybe you could make an alternate GUI when you are finished with this project to make it a bit more like LM. (like the item and object inserting windows) Using the keyboard to insert items (Ctrl+Ins, Shift+Ins and the Ins Itself) is very tedious. Don't get me wrong, I like the existing GUI, but it's not to my (and most likely SMW hackers) taste. Keep up the good work. And whatever I did to make the error screen come up, I don't know. But I can't get it to come up again. If I do, I'll let ya know. |

Make another GUI just for SMW hackers? I think this would be completely useless... You think the GUI isn't to your taste because of LM's GUI, but I can easily say that LM's GUI isn't to my taste either because I've used it only a couple of times, and I find it really messy. If you don't have enough patience to get accomodated to this editor, then I would advise you not to create a hack which would require a lot more patience... |

If people don't want to use any other ROM hacking programs because the GUI isn't like Lunar Magic's then that is the most retarded reason ever.

Yeah I agree with everyone else, the GUI is perfectly fine the way it is. It's pointless to change GUI to make it look "better" as long as you can use the program it's fine.

I think it is pointless to change the GUI to copy another program's, especially if the user interface that you are copying is probably inferior than what you already have. GUI improvements are always welcome to programs, though. |

I never said I was impatient, I said I was uncomfortable. I like the current GUI, but the adding of items can take a while. I was just stating how you could save time. Yes, ROMhacking requires patience, but you should be able to cut down on the tedious things. "I think it is pointless to change the GUI to copy another program's" Its not necessarily copying Lunar magic's, its "copying" the copy/paste function that many programs already use. With SM3W, you have to go through all the enemies/objects you don't need to get the one you want each time you make a new object. With the copy/paste function, you just have to pick what you want, and paste as many as you need on the screen. This is especially helpful when you have to paste a certian block. |

Well, I had to adjust from using M3I to using Workshop and I must say, the transition was seemless. I love the GUI hukka has created. I'm able to make levels MUCH faster now than I ever could with m3i. My only gripe is the lack of a few hot keys, but hukka is adding them as he goes along and I'm completely comfortable with his set up already. I think you're going in the right direction with this editor hukka. I've already abandoned m3i and replaced the quick launch icon. So, if you want to make a hack like Mario Adventure, USE SMB3 WORKSHOP OMG! lol, just kidding |

Ok I found a bug. In freeform mode if you add a 4-byte object and change the bank to anything but 2 the object shows up either as an "!" (with show rom graphics unchecked) Or the upperleft corner of a Background hill(with show rom graphics checked) until the rom is played in an emulator then if you go back to Mario3 workshop the 4-byte object shows up as normal. This is a major inconveniance. Can you please fix it in the next update? (edited by The Great Guy on 09-26-04 09:22 PM) (edited by The Great Guy on 09-26-04 09:23 PM) |

Just a few things: You might want to allow sprites to be moved beyond the vertical limit, since some sprites will be located below that line since their position determines the effect. A few sprite issues: sprite 25 = changes exit location on map (not sure how, still never figured it out, it works on warp pipe levels. sprite D4 = labeled as autoscroll #2, but it's really the White Mushroom house indicator sprite. The value has to be even, under 128 (0x80) and it's vertical position determines the # of coins required to obtain the white mushroom house (can be used on any level in any world). sprite 53 = labeled as nothing, this is really a lakitu boundary. Lakitu cannot pass a spot the sprite lies on. |
