Hero was about ready to jump in when he saw the fire ball, but noticed Blitzen had somehow deflected it. He continued to wait seeing exactly what they could do. If it was to much for them to handle then, and only then, would he intervene. He just remembered where the next place was and shuddered.

"Valkrum Dunes... I hate that place..."

Blitzen staggered back as the blade wavered in his hand. He was unsure whether it had absorbed some power from the spell, but in whatever case, power flooded through it, if the wild white flames surrounding it had any indication. The Quadav mage obviously took notice of it - and was visibly hesitating.

Blitzen found himself doing something he would never have dared to otherwise - seemingly guided by the blade he shot across the ground, holding it behind him as he made a line to the beastman. Still fumbling with the blade he leapt up, smashing him with the weapon and sending him flying backwards, completely smashing through a string of nearby trees.

Blitzen sagged, letting the tip of the sword touch the ground as its power began to drain. "...ugh.. uh... what?" he glanced around, only catching eye of Efrael smirking before unconsciousness took hold.

Clive reloaded his weapon, in case any more Beastmen chose to attack the group. He then made his way towards the group, holding his rifle above his head with both hands so Efreal could not mistake him for an enemy. As he got to the two, he asked,, "Are the both of you ok?"

"Foolish gunman he had no need to help them. They will be fine, but for now I should continue to follow as this sword may come back to curse me like the others..."

Hero spoke to himself, but was watching what had happened. He knew what might happen, but he decided it was better to just wait and watch. Doing anything to rash would end up hurting himself and the others around him than helping.

Efrael had checked around the camp once more for more pursuers by the time Clive had found him. Laying his sword to rest in its scabbard, he pivoted to face him. From the looks of things, he wasn't too surprised by Clive's appearance. Checking back to Blitzen, who still lied with his side to the dirt, he slouched back into his usual unamused stance.

"Don't get me wrong, that was quite risky to show yourself with the beastmen potentially travelling in overwhelming hordes and all. But I find your arrival terribly convenient. Your tracking skills are certainly up to par, so what could compel you to waste your time following two lonely travellers?" he began to circle Clive. "...maybe it's the fact that these travellers in question are polar opposites of each other. What relation could they have? Or maybe you were wondering what could compel them to suddenly spring up in the middle of the night and flee the safety of Bastok?

"Or..." he slowed to a stop. "...you wonder about the Oathkeeper."

Clive counted off his fingers as Efrael offered his ideas on why he had followed the two of them. As Efrael finished, Clive spoke. "Those are good reasons as to why someone would follow the two of you. However, you forgot two options."

Clive counted off another finger as he stated, "I was bored with Bastok, saw the two of you leave on a journey and chose to follow you out of boredom and as a test of my skills, or," Clive counted off the final finger on his left hand, "maybe it's a mix of everything about you two that caused me to follow." He shruged before smiling. "Who knows?"

"Anyway, it is getting late, he needs sleep," Clive pointed to Blitzen, "and I'll take first watch, if that's ok with you. I'm more nocturnal than most, anyway."

"Hey Hero, should we scout ahead and kill any beast men that may get in the way. If this happens everytime they will never get there."

"That is a good idea Destin, but allow me to continue with fighting. Seperating may still be to dangerous."

Hero scouted the road ahead and was prepared to kill any beastmen that may try and interfere. He really didn't have the time for having to rest everything they got into a fight.

Efrael wasn't in the mood to argue. He simply plopped down on the ground, stretching his legs as he worked on starting the fire that the weather tried to bar him from at every turn. "You confound me."

Clive laughed. "A lot of people say that."

He then made his way back towards the figure that he had passed earlier, and noticed the set of footprints continuning on along the route. No use in telling the elf about these, if it's someone from the group that was at Blitzen's house, I'll probably see them tomorrow. Clive quickly returned to patrolling the outside of the camp for any more beastmen.

Hero walked up the path and found three beastmen waiting for him. He brought out his spear and skewed the first one.

"You beastmen will never stop fighting us will you?"

Hero didn't expect an answer from the question, but oddly he did.

"We were made by Promathia to fight Althana's own children. It is our purpose!"

Hero didn't question the logic and started fighting the remaining two. He had almost no problems taking them out and was barely touched. He ran further along the path hoping that no beastmen were on the road.

Blitzen shoveled another spoonful of gruel into his mouth. "That was some dream."

Efrael did likewise. "So you say."

Morning had already come, and Efrael was happy that Blitzen had been knocked for so far a loop that it saved him a lot of explanation about the previous night's events. Though his helping was many times larger than the Taru's, they finished at the same time. He sincerely hoped he could get that blade out of his hands before it became any further attached to him. It would be bad enough if any bandits had to put him through that situation again, let alone having to tell him exactly what was going on.

He stood, seizing his huge backpack off the ground nearby. He nodded to Clive. "Let's move."

Clive was an issue. Efrael now had a witness to Blitzen's actions - would they arise again. Resolving things with him would be a little bit more a challenge.

Hero circled back on the path clearing a few more of the beastmen, but it wasn't a problem anymore. The beastmen wouldn't be back for a while, and now he just had to hope the other three would hurry up and go along the path. Hero may be kind of old, but he would never have time to wait.

Noticing the Highlands were lacking aggressive creatures, even for the Highlands, Clive thought to himself. The person who I saw last night must be staying ahead of the group, clearing out resistance.

Clive tore off another bite of jerkied meat and sighed. It's just another track to cover. Clive returned to his position behind the group, covering any gaping tracks made by any of the members in the group. He muttered to himself, well out of earshot of Blitzen or Efreal, "I have no idea why that blade is so important. Looks like a normal blade to me, although I'll still cover tracks if that's what wanted."
