... amount of time until your computer started up and stopped loading ? It would interest me, since I noticed major differences in starting up the OSes on different comupters (my computer needs nearly two minutes and is an older one running Windoze ME), another one needs less than ten seconds to start up with a virgin Windows XP while a different computer runs with SuSe Linux and needs less than one minute. Networks need longer times to start up (depending on the IP settings and so on) and really full auto-start folders also lengthen the time widely. The span is calculated between pushing the power button and when everything has stopped loading when on the desktop (virus scanner, firewall, dirvers etc.). So, how long does your computer need to start up ? Or it is online 23/7 ... ? |

My computer needs over a minute, because I'm using WinXp. With Win98 it only takes me 40-60 seconds.

That's odd, Hide. This XP takes less than 30 secs to boot up fully. Ofcourse, I could be off, being the time-ignorant doofus that I am. |

I have Red Hat Linux (yes, I am a n00b, but at least I admit it), and it takes a while to boot up...I've never timed it though...

Around 30 to 45 seconds is quite normal for me. Oh, and I use XP, if anyone really cares. |

Right now, it's at about 2:00. It's a bit shorter after a full system re-install, which I'm carrying out today, though Probably one minute.

My computer takes about 30 seconds to load up with Windows XP. It goes a little slower sometimes, but most of the time it will take 30 seconds or less. My old computer takes about two minutes to load with Windows 98, but that's mostly because my dad installed a bunch of programs which all open when Windows loads up. |

About a minute, maybe a tad more. I've got a XP 1.7 p4, so its fairly decent, but I guess its quite obsolete compared to all the new machines.

Mine tends to take about 30 seconds, I think. Come to think of it, I should see what I can eliminate on the startup process. |

About two to three minutes...urg, takes forever and a day, actually. Chris' computer, that he built, takes about a minute, maybe less. That thing is on speed or something.

Anything around 30 seconds or so should be normal for Win XP. Win XP loads fast becuse it's loads severeal things when it's booting, that's more effective than doing one thing as once. As the old OS's do. Win2000 take longer time than XP to boot up I know for sure. I can reach less than ten seconds, if I am using a boot disc and boot DOS from floppy/disc or using my old computer and just select DOS. |

Mine ranges, mostly because it depends on what I'm running on either account. In some instances, it could take up to 1 minute. But generally it is only about 30-45 seconds.

....... Around two minutes plus when my sister's done using it, 30sec when I'm done with it on here. On the old TC300 and not the RB1200 (yep, I name them) it was around 2 minutes because I had a lot of programs I use on startup (and yes, I like them there because I usually leave it on a lot) I hate thsi computer. |

As for me, I don't need stuff like the Winamp Agent at all, so I removed it from start-up |
