Forum jump, for example, doesn't work with JavaScript off.

Yeah... this should be pretty much self-explainatory

A function like forum jump rather necessitates javascript, unless it were a form with a 'submit' button. I would consider it a reasonable sacrifice for turning javascript off.

Logging out, on the other hand, is now handled by javascript, which it doesn't really have to be. And I see how that could be annoying not to have access to.

If you can't use Javascript on your browser, change it.
If you turned JS off, turn it on.

Who uses forum jump?

Javascript is used on the toolbar too, which few actually use anyway.

Before there was logout.php, but people abused a bug where they linked to logout.php in their minipic.

Personally, I wonder if there is a way making the thing logout without javascript and without getting that "logging out by just linking to the picture" issue.

I don't mind Javascript for a few extra there and here, but it should not be used for critical things.

And if logout dosen't work for you, clean your cookies...

People were using the old php logout script as their avatar, that's why that was changed to javascript.

And if just use a browser which accept javascript. I disable Javasctipy when browsing the board because sometimes I hit the logout button without wanting it.

Don't be such an ass.

There's a good reason I've turned off JavaScript.

The point is, don't turn off javascript and still expect to be able to use javascript features. True, Forum Jump could be implemented without javascript, but it would be much less quick, which is its whole purpose.

I don't understand your "I turned off javascript, so now I can't do everything on the board. Change it so I can access all of the features without javascript. I need javascript off. Why can't I forum jump? "

Logotu doesn't nesacarilly need to use JS, even -- why not just have a "Really log out? [Yes, stupid] [No]" fom? It'd even (gasp!) prevent accidental logouts (which I've done myself once or twice, but then again my mouse sucks...)

The logout button currently uses JS to submit a form with the POST method to the script that does the logging out. I tried "submitting" it myself by pasting the URL with the proper hidden input and value appended, and it didn't log me out. I don't know why that is (I'm guessing that the script is set up to ignore parameters appended to the URL), but I don't see why it couldn't be used on a separate logout page. Clicking the link would get you a page that said "You are currently logged in as (username). Would you like to log out?" and gave you a button that would submit a similar form. That would prevent people from logging out by accident, prevent the logout script from being abused to annoy people, and make the feature work without JavaScript.
