I'm bored... and going through my big ole book of drugs. I dunno about anybody else, but for some reason I find things like human biology and the effects of drugs and such really interesting. Here are some fun facts I've read: Caffeine is used medicinally to help with migraine headaches, and it also enhances the effect of simple painkillers like asprin or paracetamol. It is also used with premature babies to stimulate breathing. Gold can be used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. It appears to inhibit action of inflammatory cells around joints. Gold also impairs the growth of tuberculosis bacteria. Men that smoke cannabis regularly produce less testosterone, have lower sperm counts and are liable to develop larger breasts. Women who smoke regularly may fail to release an egg from the ovary each month. LSD stands for "Lysergic Acid Diethylamide". It works by acting on a receptor in the brain that needs seratonin to work. These cells reduce the amount of sensory information transferred to the conscious mind. LSD turns those cells off, so that large amounts of sensory information are transferred to the conscious mind. Weeee.... I am so bored. Any drugs anybody wants to know anything about? Medications you're on... illicit stuff.. I'll see if I can find it in my book |

All I can say is...being doped up on antidepressants was a terrible thing to have done to me as a junior higher. Fuck that stuff. Right now if I were to go to a doctor, he'd probably say I have ADD and try to "help" me by making me take medication. Such a waste... (edited by Abnormal Freak on 03-19-04 01:21 AM) |

Which Antidepressants, might I ask? I am on SSRI (Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitor) type antidepressants -- a new, and relatively safe variety. They attempt to prolong the effects of the brain chemical Seratonin by preventing it from being reabsorbed by the cells which transmitted it. As a result, there is an increased amount of seratonin, which is meant to improve mood. Specifically I am on Zoloft, the drug name of which is "Sertraline" (edited by ChibiTaryn on 03-19-04 01:24 AM) (edited by ChibiTaryn on 03-19-04 01:25 AM) |

I can't remember. I was on a couple. Or maybe just one? I was on Paxil for sure. What a pussy drug. Eventually they boosted my prescription to 20 mg or higher. 40? Can't recall. I think I was supposed to take 'em twice a day or something. Anyway... The stuff made me drousy, and really messed my head up. Eventually I threw that garbage in the trash. Same with all my other medications. I started feeling better afterward, yet during the whole time I was taking the drug, I felt like it was making me better. :\ My way of fighting depression is smiling and laughing a lot, hanging out with good, fun people. It helps. Or even when I don't see people, I try to enjoy something. It's funny sometimes when I get depressed...'cos I won't know what has gotten me feeling that way, so then I'll stop and think and retrace my thoughts, and I usually come to what made me feel down, and it'd be something kind of hopeless but also real silly as to why it brought me down, so I'd shrug it off, chuckle, and feel much better. Nick: there are no interactions between Caffeine and Alcohol. Caffeine does not abolish the effects of alcohol. (Although in my personal experience, it just creates a hyper drunk that's more likely to hurt themselves running around like a darned idiot) Abnormal Freak: Paxil's chemical name is "paroxetine" and it is also an SSRI type drug, like the one I take. It's effects are similar to that of Prozac and Zoloft, and it has the same action and side effects. |

Blah im never geting into Pot last thing i need is for my ballz to shrink. Anyways I heard that when you do LSD it never leaves your system and it can always be detected. At the moment im not on any meds but my dad takes Lamichtal(spelling may be off) for his epilepsy, last week he accidently overdosed and acted kinda drunk, he also got very happy and starting licking the railing on our stairs thats when my mom knew it was time to take him to the hospital lol. | |||

Merc: NyQuil is something we dont' get in Australia, but I am aware that it contains an antihistamine, which would have the effect of making you drowsy. It also contains a quantity of alcohol, although that too should have the effect of making you drowsy a little as well... . It also contains some psudoephedrine, which is similar in effect to adrenaline, which may explain the hyperactivity. mrmenz -- Lamictal (lamotrigine) is used for treatment of epilepsy and also bipolar disorder. However, most people get dizzy, drowsy and headachey when they overdose, not... happy and licking the railing |

I get happy and lick the railing (among other things), but not because of any side effects of anything... (edited by Abnormal Freak on 03-19-04 01:55 AM) |

*nods* That's possible. For a lot of people mixing pot and alcohol or various other illicit substances provides a greater high than either of the two substances are able to by themselves. Mixing the two is also more likely to become addictive.... people start to think that they can't enjoy alcohol as much without the weed or vice versa..... For me though it just makes me sleepy and gives me a worse hangover. (edited by ChibiTaryn on 03-19-04 08:52 AM) |

Hmm..none of which I use. Oh well. I've been taking them for years now, and I haven't passed out yet or anything like that, so I guess I'm fine. Just for kicks, anything about the Primiatine(sp?) Mist inhalers? |
