It's Capcom's ONLY un-sequel'd series, and it was damn good too! Do you think so?

Personally, I loved Megaman Legends and Legends 2. The plot was good, it had the best version of Roll ever (one that was actually cool AND useful, something Roll, Roll.EXE and Alia just can't do), and the games were challenging and a decent attempt to bring Megaman into 3D (much better than X7). They could do so much more with the storyline and characters in the games, and considering the huge cliffhanger they left off with at the end of Legends 2, I think it's about time we got another one, or at least start praying for one. 2000 wasn't that long ago...

So what do you think?

I only played Megaman 64 which I found to be ok, but I got lost at the end and never beat the game... I did get a chance to see someone play legends and it was cool.

alitnil reporting.

I never played MegaMan Legends 1. I did own MML2 and liked it alot. but to be honest I thought the storyline was way to weird. Even for capcom. And I really didn't understand much of the ending. But again, I dislike anime and that was to a degree anime. No offense to the anime-niacs out there. I just like the NES Megaman too much see it in any other light.

My favorite level (it's been a long time) was that open field level where you fought those hovering (flying? rolling?) machines.

Absolutely! Japan likes Rock Man Dash! and we like Mega Man Legends-- no reason another sequal should not be made. I'd love to see it come out on the GameCube or something. The Nintendo GameCube needs more Capcom love.

I've only played Megaman 64 (whihc is legends, just with cleaner graphics), and liked it alot. Ad I'm sure Legends 2 was great as well. So sure, they should bring in another sequel. I know I would get it.

I say no. capcom has butchered the Megaman licence enough with the battle-whatever series and now with Megaman X8 on the rise? It's over, Capcom! Over! Megaman is no longer the awesom little blue guy running around Crashman's tower stage, or Topman's Greenhouse stage, or Flameman's oil field; he's now justa money leech... well, more than he was before, anyway...

No. I think the Megaman universe is already too screwed up as is. I have no idea who the hell is what. Other than that, if they made a game set in the original megaman or megaman X universes with the style of megaman legends(the whole nine yards), then I'd approve.

But Megaman Legends isn't even a Megaman series, that's what I like about it. It's not a part of the universe, they might as well just change the name to something like Tales of the Mother Lode and change people's names around. With the exception of a guy in blue armor and someone named Roll, there's nothing similar about the Legends storyline, timeline, or gameplay as far as other Megaman games go. Saying Legends is just like all of the other Megaman serieses is like saying Breath of Fire is like Dragon Warrior because both of them have some vague affiliation with large fire-breathing lizards. There's so much Capcom could do with this series, Turn it into a whole universe all its own and KEEP IT SIMPLE at the same time. They've obviously learned from the huge mistake they made with the X series; the plotlines in other serieses (BoF, Battle Network, evne the original series) have gotten considerably less ludicrous ever since the sixth X game (which is where it all really went to hell). Even the X series itself, which is where I think all of Capcom's problems have stemmed, has started to pick itself back up with this RPG that's coming along, they might even be able to stabilize the plot a bit and turn the X series, and Megaman in general, back into the interesting, action-packed powerhouse it was in the old days of the NES and SNES.

And as for what is what:

Megaman, Megaman X, and Megaman Zero all take place in the same universe, they're three consecutive pieces of a long plot. Sequels for the original series are pretty much shot, unless Capcom severely changes the game formula away from the 8 robot masters thing or does something like a transitional game between X and Original, Megaman's done for. As for the X series, I'd like to see Capcom start wrapping it up and showing what makes X do the things he does in Zero. All of the serieses need to have an ending at some point, it's just a matter of time before Capcom gets around to it. At that point, Clockworkz, you'd get your wish, and Megaman would finally be dead. Eventually Capcom will realize that nobody wants to play the same game all over again, they're beginning to learn that now (every new Battle Network game has had severe tweaking, I think it's becoming Capcom's test board for new ideas...).

Maybe once the main universe dies, they'll continue Legends, having learned from their experiences.

I guess I don't concur with a lot of people here, but IMO, I puked on those games. I'm sorry, but Megaman just doesn't go into a zelda-style town and buy bread after returning from a vast underground mine battling super robots. MM was intended to be a platformer. A MM rpg certainly was a neat idea. However, mml ruined it. BN kinda threw a half-deflated life preserver at the mm rpg concept.

Interesting you should say that considering Capcom once said somewhere that the MegaMan Legends series takes place about three thousand years after the Zero series, which places the Legends series somewhere around the year 52XX(I'm just guessing).
The original series, the X series, the Zero series and the Legends series are all in the same timeline while the Battle Network series is more of a "what if" story.
But even then, it's illogical for it to be a part of the main timeline once you think about it.

I'd like to see a source that places Legends in 52XX, the series definitely hinted at that being true, but I won't believe it til I see it. And if I do believe it when I see it, I'll be glad to.

I can't really point you to any source other than the book called "Rockman Memories" where Capcom briefly states that the Dash series connects. And as for the whole "52XX" thing, I only guessed that it would take place then because they also said it takes place about three thousand years after the X/Zero series.
