A small window of the same size of Hex Chart pops up and says "You got new PM. Click here if you wanna go to your inbox.". Also if you don't want that to happen, just disable it. |

Any such notifications will be shown via a bar on the top of each page, I think. I've been working on a new Javascript-powered widget for faster entering of lists of form values. You'll be able to enter multiple "Homepages" under your profile. Multiple AIM/ICQ/MSN/whatever screennames. And it'll also be easier to input, say, multiple poll choices without reloading. And also for something new. (It needs to be said that we're not discriminating against non-Javascript users. If you don't have Javascript it will work "manually", with the sending-the-page-to-the-server and the getting-back-the-page-but-with-this-one-field-added-or-removed and all. It'll just be slower.) |

Interesting... very interesting... I'd like to see the shop thing get finished someday... is that in the forseeable future? |

Acmlm is in charge of any RPG and shop things. I prefer actual board-related stuff. Hoohaas that do stuff with EXP and needless statistics are not my thing.

Jesper, you're the man. You did more in one day than it was done in the last year.

Hey I remember that, that was pretty funny/bad. But just as Cymoro said its good to see people carrying on the Acmlm tradition.

okay another idea would be... to be able to set a 'x' time before a thread gets auto-close. Seeing as people now are bumping months old threads.... |

Fantastic! This is good news. Neko: I don't know if anyone else was doing one, but I'm working on an FF1 rankset. Acmlm never answered my PM when I had some questions though. It's actually nearly done, but I'm just not satisfied with it as it is for some reason. Maxtwo: I wanted to suggest something along those lines, but kept forgetting about it. My particular idea was that whenever a thread is posted, an event would be scheduled for that thread to be automatically closed in a certain amount of time, and each post in the thread would reset the amount of time. Then, if there are no new posts within that amount of time, the event would be triggered, and the thread would get closed. |

- The regular user should be prevented from deleting the first post in his/her own threads - Edit should be prevented in a closed thread to avoid people saying "Acmlm suk my my digg omgfieklol" and editing that (although that would be noticed earlier, of course), just for purpose What would be great, might be adding a User CP hack - I think Weasel made one long ago. One section might be "Post layouts" - so the post header and signature windows/input fields might be moved to an own page and adding that way: You click on a /postlayout.php -> You will be redirected to a PREVIEW version of that layout by force (so no submit without viewing the layout is possible). Since it would be required to VIEW the layout BEFORE submitting it again (offering "Edit post layout" and "Submit post layout" in the preview section) - you WILL be noticed if it destroys tables andsuch To make it easy, forcing that way: Opening postlayout.php -> clicking on the only button "view layout (you can submit it later)" -> preview version with two buttons "Edit post layout" and "Submit post layout" Some users might complain for one additional click, but it is more better in overwiew and the previewing might stop fucked up threads caused by a bad post layout ... since a page already messes up in the preview window - a warning the layout kills all threads (edited by Surlent on 08-15-04 06:16 AM) (edited by Surlent on 08-15-04 06:17 AM) |

Originally posted by CymorovikovAbout this whole 1500+ users thing - that happened because I -didn't- have access. I had to use a hack to do it. And as of now, we can just turn off registration and it'll work. Originally posted by knukslyI in general agree with this fact; CPs are useless. I've never seen the charm of requiring five or six SEPARATE pages to do what you should be able to do in one page.Originally posted by SurlentNO! NO NO NO NO!! However. I'm planning to pull the post layout thingamabobs out of the Edit Profile thing and out on a new page. I'm doing this because of these reasons: - Changing your post layout mostly encompasses these fields: post header, post 'sig', post background if anyone's using that, and possibly avatar, minipic and custom title. You don't NEED to be able to edit the other fields. - Adding a preview box, reloading as you tab out of the text fields. - Possibly adding a CSS field. Again, the reason people say CSS sucks for layouts is because the current way to use CSS is to link to them from different hosts. Loading everything from one host is faster. Loading CSS holds up loading the rest of the page in some browsers; the faster we can get it to load, the faster viewing a thread will feel. In general, you go to Edit Profile to do one of the following: - Change your layout or 'appearence' - again, post header, post sig, post background, minipic, avatar, custom title - Change your bio - everything under 'Personal Information' and 'Online Services'. One could argue that minipic, avatar and custom title belongs here instead, but I think it makes the most sense under layout/appearence, seeming as how most fields under what I call bio are usually pretty static and survive several 'layout changes'. - Change settings. Noone sees this but you. This is everything under 'Options'. Unless you constantly move between two very different computer setups (in which case changing settings would seem like a pretty usual task), changing one's layout, avatar or custom title is what you do most often. Therefore, there's a benefit to be found in breaking it out into a separate page and putting in some tools to make it easier for you. And let me end by saying that I'm very thrilled to be 'back on the road' with board dev again. In the time it took me to write this post, I've come up with several new ideas: A 'widget' in the PM form popping up a small box allowing you to pick a board member to send it to, options for the 'thread history' below, and some more wild things I'm afraid of telling you because they might be too hard to implement and so you'd be chasing me about it. |

Jesper, if you are going to put custom title in a separate place, let it in editprofile.php too. btw, another idea: allow users to delete their PMs. Sometimes i send a PM but then i want to change something. But i can't. Why the hell it was disabled in first place? (edited by knuksly on 08-15-04 12:50 PM) |

All ideas I can come up with is a MSN messenger field for messenger users. And about the 1500+ users deletion, jesper missed a 2. That's why he is so famous. Which summer is the next editon of the next Acmlmboard going to be released on? xP |

Well congratulations for finally getting off of your butts to do this. Could we actually have an admin panel, like, 3 years after it was due? |
