It would be better if they cut the calories of sodas..they have way too much sugar in it. That's why I had that one bad cavity when I was younger..my parents should have stopped giving me it..they keep on giving my baby sister soda. She gets excited whenever she gets some..and she's only 3

Or take away an ingredient. Bella: They do, they're called diet sodas. But then again, not everyone likes the diet aftertaste... like me. |

I tried it, it was pretty good actually. The only part I didnt like was the price. It was more expensive then regular coke and has less ingrediants. I liked it but for the prize it wasnt all that good. Heh.

More expensive? That's a ripoff - I could buy a bottle of Coke, Diet Coke, Vanilla Coke or C2 at the exact same price in virtually any store around here.

I'm going to attempt to explain the taste thing for those fo you who think that C2 tastes like ass. There is some kind of ill-conceived notion that if it's healthier, that it must taste worse, and that healthiness varies inversely as the taste of the product. Ergo, if they made it taste good, that people wouldn't really think that it was good for them, and the placebo effect(when a patient believes that a treatment works, it usually does) wouldn't work. I blame that "Angus Diet" commercial from Burger King. That commercial led all who saw it to believe that if it's what you want to eat, it isn't healthy. Therefore, companies can start to charge more for products that taste even WORSE that the original. I don't know if this exists, but what if Spam started to make a carb-friendly version that tasted even worse(if it's possible). I'll leave you with that. Just eat what you want, eventually you die anyway. If you're get fat get lypo. And always remember, the temporary solution might last just long enough.

True, but some of us DON'T notice a difference. And if there is one, it's marginal. Yet on the other hand, I detest diet soft drinks. I can drink them but there's that aftertaste... Blech. Maybe you Americans have better varieties but not here. |

Aspartame, the sweetener used in most varieties of diet pop (including all flavors of Diet Coke and Pepsi), does have an aftertaste. There are other brands (Diet Rite, for instance) that use Splenda, an incredibly w00t calorie-free sweetener that is essentially plain old sugar that doesn't get absorbed. I tried Diet Rite and thought it tasted pretty close to regular pop.

..... Why can't we have something that's Splenda-based? I'd glady chug down diet soft drinks if they had Splenda and not aspartame. Maybe some people are more sensitive to aspartame than others. I taste it all the time when I drink diet but my parents can't notice any difference. |

I just found a list of Splenda-flavored brands of pop. Maybe some of these are available locally. If not, you might want to put in a suggestion at your local grocery store. It might not do anything (we suggested bean buns to Wegman's ages ago, and they never decided to carry them ), but it's always worth a shot. Yeah, some people seem to be much more sensitive to certain tastes than others. One of my friends can't stand fish (even the mild varieties) because they all have a weird garbage taste to him. |

The only thing I see on this list that we might have is the Diet RC... so I must remember to go out on Monday and try a can. Interesting list actually... we (obviously) have Clearly Canadian here, for instance, but I have never seen a store carry the diet version. Strange. Yeah, it's kind of like me and cabbage. I can't even stand the smell of the stuff, let alone the taste... Which for me tastes like the smell. |

I love cabbage...especially in this clear soup that my mom used to make. Was that stuff ever good! We have the recipe...so now I just have to bug Rando to make it sometime. (I can cook, but I really don't enjoy it. I make an exception for cottage cheese pancakes, though. )

Cabbage is good. But nothing compares to beets, preferrably in borsht form... *Ukranian food = yum!* |

I drink diet/light Cola drinks only because sugar-based Cola leaves a pretty icky feeling in my mouth. I could care a lot less about the actual taste - I still greatly prefer Pepsi Max over Coca-Cola Light and Pepsi Light (in that order) though - the temperature served and if it's served with ice are more important factors for me personally. Oddly, I don't get this when drinking non-Cola sodas. Ordinary Fanta, Sprite, Loranga, San Sao, 7-Up or what have you are perfectly fine by me. |

I didn't detect any taste difference then. And I'm just going to guess that Loranga and San Sao are fruit-based sodas. |

Guarana. OK then. Remind me never to go to Sweden exclusively for soda. Coke : Sprite :: Pepsi : 7-Up. Actually, the two taste a bit different. I prefer 7-Up to Sprite since there's more flavor, but I like Sprite Remix. |

Ah true, but that's in America. In Canada, Pepsi markets 7-Up. |
