Why are people angry about the existence of reduced-carb products? I could understand if "regular" versions of the products were being pulled from the market to make room for them, which would be extremely annoying to consumers who preferred them, but as it stands, it's just another choice that you don't have to buy if you don't want to. Granted, many people are jumping on the low-carb bandwagon without really understanding it, but it's not as if all low-carb products are silly and pointless. The best ones have the same caloric content as their equivalents, but they contain little to no refined carbohydrates and much more protein. Considering that refined carbs make you hungrier and protein satiates you, this means that you get much more mileage out of those calories. (This is the main principle behind low-carb diets - they really do help you regulate your hunger.) Also, the low-carb products boost your protein intake, which is important if your lifestyle demands a good quantity of dietary protein. Although about 40-50% of my daily caloric intake comes from carbs, I like to pick up low-carb products on occasion. I recently wanted to buy some protein bars at the grocery store to keep around as a quick breakfast or snack. The bars with the best protein-to-calorie ratio (and a total caloric content of under 300) were made by Keto and Atkins. Atkins breakfast bars also taste like dessert but have next to no sugar and over 10 grams of protein, so they're a nice alternative if I'm ever going nuts for a pastry. Thanks to Keto chips, which taste enough like normal corn chips for me, I can make a nacho plate that actually counts as a healthy meal. Also, don't forget that diabetics and other folks must reduce their simple carbohydrate intake for medical reasons, so the new products allow them to enjoy a wider variety of foods. |

I've never had C2, I have no money right now to get anything more than milk But... I'll just add that my favourite Coke derivative would be Diet Coke with Lemon |

C2 totally kicks ass for a "light" soda, but it's horribly expensive as an 8 pack. It has a lighter taste than Coca Cola without that after taste. I totally dig the stuff.

It's not expensive at all over here. Exact same price as any other Coke/Pepsi product you'd find on the shelves. At least it's not following the Atkins diet mentality I've seen at some places here... the "healthier" the item, the higher the price. |

Ok. I got a can of this junk right now. *Takes a gulp* Here's my verdict: It tastes like someone took a vat of Diet Coke and a vat of regular coke and blended them together, at a 1:1 ratio. So its more like Coca-Cola Halfway Mix than anything else.

Bella - I found the reference - part of a bunch of soundbites promoting some upcoming book of hers. *looks at her decidedly not fat body and at the monstrous pile of empty cans of various flavors of Diet Coke littering her desk* What a moron...but I think we all knew that already. Colleen - Many retailers certainly jack up prices on those products because low-carb lifestyles are "in" right now, but interestingly enough, there may be other reasons behind that than simple supply and demand. The Atkins diet prescribes meat, fish, eggs, some dairy, and low-sugar/high-fiber fruits and vegetables.* Odd as it may seem, these healthy dietary staples are often more expensive than other foods (which is, incidentally, one reason for the rise of obesity among the American poor). * I'm serious. Really. Atkins' plan is a lifestyle change, and those are the sorts of foods that it calls for you to eat. Contrary to popular belief, it isn't the "snarf down nothing but cheeseburgers for a few months, resume your old eating habits, and watch the weight pile back on" diet. |

Don't know why..I'm a soda drinker so eh. Expensive? I haven't checked the prices for it. I've just seen it on shelves. I always pass it up because I think it might taste like shit. I'll fur sure give it a try sooner than later. |

Rydain: Oh, I'm sure the foodstuffs required for those Atkins meals don't come cheap. If you're going to have that big Atkins logo displayed in your restaurant, then you need to provide your customers with something that actually tastes good. Actually, Canada's prices shouldn't be too expensive in that regard (you can probably find good-quality stuff all across the country) but still... Then again, I'M the one who ended up having McD's today. |

Maybe it's not in machines? Trust me, it took a few months for Vanilla Coke to end up in machines here - you had to go to the store and actually buy a bottle. |

I think they should eliminate regular coke and just call C2 normal coke. Honestly, regular coke has too many calories and far too much sugar. Our whole generation is going to have massive diabetes because of sugar overloads. C2 tastes wonderful, as I've had them side by side. The difference is that it is made with Sucralose, a derivative of normal Sugar, but is non caloric. Even though I prefer Pepsi Products, I have to say that Pepsi Edge sucks. It tastes like flat Pepsi. Note that Coke cut their calories in half with C2. Pepsi cut calories by 2/3. 33% of the original sugar content just isn't enough to make it sweet. It may taste like Pepsi but it has no kick. The only good new product in the past ten years that Pepsi put out was Vanilla Pepsi. (Does not include Mountain Dew brands, Livewire is yummy) |

They could do that with C2 easily and not many people would notice. I wouldn't be surprised if that's what they end up doing in a year or so, as long as the product sells. They might tweak the end result a bit so it tastes exactly like regular Coke, but the desired effect is still the same.
