Hmm..I like bunches of music like video game, anime, pop, rock, punk, rap, hip-hop, R&B. I just started getting into spanish music to help with my spanish. K1 is definately teh shizzle and they look good XD and they are a mix of hip-hop, rap and traditional stuff. It's cumbia basically..I didn't know that that was before.

EDIT: Bleh, I saw the JC Penys commercial and it reminded me of Dance Hall/Reggae type of stuff. I like that too

Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Eminem, Jazz.

Its funny when people see me listening to Jazz, because they think of me as a Death Metal type person. I really don't like Death Metal that much, but of course I haven't ever really listened to it so I'm not going to judge it.

Alright. I like black metal because it is vicious. There is nothing like sitting down and hearing brutal almost mechanical instrumentations backed with hateful and nihilistic lyrics. I dig grindcore and other cores because often, they are twisted and nasty. Bands like mine kinda push the boundaries of decency. Death metal is generally boring, but occasionally a band like Cryptopsy or Morbid Angel come around. Thrash metal is the holy grail of metal. ALL HAIL VENOM \m/ NWOBHM for lizzife.

I'm pretty genre-hopping, but in the age of the internet, who isn't?

Let's say: late 70s Rock/Punk/New Wave, and other sorts of Rock - bunches of Indie pop stuff, and lots of stuff with sharp angular guitar with bounciness.
And other stuff too, but broadly under the banner of "rock". I have no time at all for "loud and angry for the sake of loud and angry" and stuff like Korn and System of a Down and Slipknot and Limp Bizkit and so forth pretty much blur together for me as "Angstpop" and I have distaste for it.

Also, lately I've been sampling and digging some various Classical (Mussorgsky and Shostakovich, for now - next project is acquiring some Mahler).

But, of course, there's always expections to my attempts to describe my music in terms of genre and aesthetic. I haven't even touched on the Klezmatics, for example...

Rock and Metal mostly.

An assortment of bands is what I listen to. Ranging from Radiohead to old skool Metallica to No Doubt.

I luuuuuuurve metal, but within that I'm normally flitting around between genres. Example: Dream Theater are probably my favourite band, but my favourite genres are Death and Black Metal, because I'm a viking warrior. Other than metal, I like some proper hip hop, anime themes, and game soundtracks, because I find them to be a bit more relaxing than balls to the wall metal all the time.

That said, there's nothing like a good headbang \m/

Reggae and 60s-80s light rock and some hard rock, but nothing overly loud and angry, like heavy metal.

Some of my favorites musicians/bands are The Who, Bob Marley, some AC-DC, and The Ramones. And lets not forgot the Rocky soundtrack!

I'm a huge ska fan, but I'm really picky about my tastes; I love Goldfinger and the Aquabats and I think Catch 22 is godly, but I can't stand most of Reel Big Fish or Sublime or even some of Less Than Jake's stuff. Also, I think Five Iron Frenzy sucks, mainly due to their lyrics and because their sound and improv style is just kinda repetitive if you listen to some of their songs.

I also listen to J-Rock, I like The Pillows and Asian Kung Fu Generation above most else, the loud, upbeat sound more than makes up for the fact that I can't understand what they're saying. Hopefully, if I take a few classes in college, that'll change.

Rock's big for me too. I like stuff nobody knows about, like Jim's Big Ego and The Presidents (which I know people have heard of but you don't see them too often anyway, with the exception of really recently). I'm an Offspring fan, but only at LAN parties when I really need loud and obnoxious music to get going. Anywhere else, it just doesn't fit. The Dave Matthews Band. I'm a big fan of them, but recently I've sorta grown out of it, DM himself has just stopped making sense to me. He's an excellent musician, but his lyrics and voice have lost their charm (especially when I realized how much he likes talking about oral sex).

(Continues down the list) Barenaked Ladies, love them. They're just awesome, they have some real hits for me. THE BEATLES. Definitely the Beatles, songs like In My Life, Yesterday, and With a Little Help From My Friends are what makes the world go around. Chicago, they're alright too. Flogging Molly, I just discovered them but they're really cool for how little I've seen of them, more of that rowdy, raucous stuff I love.

I'm a DDR slave too, so naturally I love some of the songs I hear on that. DJ Taka in particular makes some excellent mixes. Modest Mouse is in the same boat as Flogging Molly, I just learned about them but some of their stuff is just beautiful, especially songs like Ocean Breathes Salty. Simon and Garfunkel are pretty good too.

Moving on.... Musicals. I love musicals. Jesus Christ Superstar and Avenue Q are two particular favorites of mine, though Pippin and Into the Woods are good too. I've listened to some Nightwish, they're alright. Not the best, but definitely a powerful sound to them, something I could listen to more than once. Jimmy Eat World and Weezer, especially Weezer, will always hold a special place in my heart for songs like The Authority Song, The Good Life, and Photograph.

I have to admit something though, throughout all this, I'm also a Weird Al fan. He's just funny, to be honest.

Alright, that was a lot longer than I expected it to be. What's worse, there's even more stuff that I listen to. I'll get into that some other time.
